I was watching the trailer for like the hundredth time.  And the body shape kind of resembles the Protheans.  Could, just maybe, enough of the Protheans escaped the Milky Way and found a new home in Andromeda?

Eh I kinda prefer them to be extinct. Javik's whole last of his kind thing worked for me.

I doubt it. And nothing in the trailer resembles Protheans. The allies are a (probably human) female and a Krogan while the enemies have completely different legs than Protheans.

I thought they were turians at first. But the leak speaks of new turian-like aliens (possibly Khet) and that they sort of resemble the aliens from Independence Day as well. If you look at the way they run in the trailer, it looks like they are hooved. That may be because, like the aliens in Independence Day, the aliens may have feet like this...

So maybe that is what those aliens in the trailer have for feet. Hard to imagine them running at those speeds with feet like that.

Best thing about Javik was blowing away Liaras naive romanticized thoughts of what they were like.

Best thing about Cerberus was blowing away everyone's naive romanticized thoughts of what the asari were really like.

Possible

Since the asari goddess is prothean, the asari instead of saying by the goddess, will say by the prothean. And instead of saying embrace eternity, they will say, embrace Javik.

Could be, some protheans might have left the galaxy to escape the Reapers as another isolated survival gambit.

Except for the legs, they looked a bit like Geth to me. Most likely something unique to Andromeda though.

Mike Gamble I believe confirmed on Twitter that the female humanoid in the trailer was human.

I doubt the protheans or the Leviathans or any galactic spanning civilization would put all their eggs in one basket so far as surviving the Apocalypse. Frankly, given how the protheans guided the asari, I kinda expect it. Ultra long lived, biotic, impeccably patient warrior matrons with a predisposition for cooperation and civilization building? If you gotta sleep through a 50,000 year journey to the next galaxy, I could think of less worthy candidates to look after the ship on the way.

Actually, everything reminds me of them until you get from waist to knees, then the feet look similar.  It's a possibility.  Remember, Protheans were still far more advanced than the species in the current cycle.  They had the ability to put their own in stasis and basically create a relay (in a sense) of their own.

One can assume, since the Prothean empire was in such disarray, that there could have been multiple projects going at once (i.e. crucible).

The Asari will look to the skies and say: "Goddess help us!" And Javik will say: "No."

No thanks. Don't get me wrong - Javik was probably my favourite new character from Mass Effect 3, but the Protheans are done, much like Shepard's story.

Introducing Javik was a sloppy mistake on behalf of the developers.

Introduce all sorts of contrivances, and for what? Pretty much all we learn it that the Protheans were pricks.

Not a very well written character on top of that. If his writing was tightened up, it might have been worth it to add his character as one of the standard races.

They will look to the sky and say Prothean help us since it was revealed that their goddess is Prothean. I agree that Javik  will say no

Javik was excellent. He didn't take crap from anyone and spoke his mind. It was excellent that he talked smack to T'soni. I wanted my femshep to do the same, but Bioware wouldn't allow that

All I'm asking myself is, why. Don't really care.

I guess they could serve as agressive fachists to shoot, as they demand that you either serve them or defeat them.

They've always looked like geth to me. Perhaps it's just a style of armor that race has, with big hoods over their heads.

If you watch the trailer and slow it down and pause around 1.30 you can see there legs are different from protheans. Look at the first enemy next to the N7 guy on his left.

Seeing them in Andromeda reminds me of Stargate, how a faction of Asgard (the Vanir) left the Ida galaxy for the Pegasus galaxy. The Asgard went extinct while the Vanir live on.

I would 100% want some Protheans in ME:A and they could be vastly different to what we know about them from the Milky Way.
