For Mass Effect 1 I was a male Sheppard and I romanced Liara. I like Liara because she is quirky and awkward yet genuinely cares about Shepard and her biotics are useful in battle. Her insight into the Protheans is useful and she is quite attractive as well. I found Ashley pretty annoying with her xenophobia(phobia of aliens) and her stereotyping every other alien member from Wrex to Garrus. She always interrupts when Liara might say something and it's annoying. Kaiden is more of an friend to me than a romance interest.

What are your guys thoughts? Let me know in the comments below

If I play maeshep it would be Ashley. When I'm playing femshep, I don't romance anyone

Femshep- Kaidan all the way because i love they way his character develops across all three games and I genuinely like him mass effect 1 and he balances out my renegade femshep really well...

Male- Im trying to get both ashley and liara but i guess im leaning more on liara because I cant kill Kaidan off and one of my male characters wanted a threesome and ashley got mad XD so liara all the way... though he ends up cheating on her with tali >.>

FemShep Liara. In ME1, the romance is eh, but I found it worth it for the reunion on Illium and the conclusion of LotSB. A minor note, there's also the unfortunate bug on PS3 that prevents anyone but Liara showing up at the prologue of ME2, which is somewhat annoying, though less so because I typically do not romance anyone else in that game.

1st MShep was Liara

2nd MShep had nobody because he waited for Kaidan in ME3, but Liara wished it was her :P

3rd, my first FemShep was with Kaidan for ME1/2

4th, another MShep will be trying to get into both Ash's and Liara's pants, but only for fun ;)

Most of my FemSheps romanced Kaidan (my favorite romance of the trilogy), except one who didn`t romanced anyone in ME1 (My Garrus romance playthrough).

One of my MaleShep romanced Liara and the other one romanced Ashley (but Ashley died on Virmire so this MShep ended up romancing Tali).

FemShep for Kaidan, all the way. (I dont mind people modding the game to romance Kaidan tho. He's an awesome character to be romanced by either sex,) I like how the romance narrative progresses in a way that it affect their profession relationship to a personal level. Kaidan started out as a subordinate then somehow elevated as trusted companion, friend to secret lover in a single game and I like that by ME3, they're professionally an equal before they could resume their relationship together.

I don't romance anyone as MaleShep since I waited until ME2 for Jack. I find its very unrealistic that Ashley and Liara immediately falls for Shepard by default when their relationship started with either of them being saved by Shepard. Most of the trilogy romance revolve around Rescue Romance trope at some point but it was different with Kaidan. Kaidan admired Shepard from the beginning (mostly because she's a sexy minx.. meow) and he knew her as his superior officer even before Shepard rescued him from the beacon while Ashley and Liara fall for Shepard even while Shepard was still virtually a stranger to them. (And I have some occasional experiences with virtual strangers who suddenly express their admiration and then want to jump into relationship when I hardly knew about them. Always annoys me to high heavens...) At least with Jack, I felt there were more depth in their relationship and her feelings isnt because Shepard rescued her from a bubble or geth.

Ashley, except for one time when I managed to unwittingly lock out Ash and set about to figure out how that actually happened.

My HMWSR X Specter Gear sniper rifle and Savant X omnitooo.

Seriously, I don't like any of the ME1 romances because I think they develop too quickly, Liara's especially being awkward and taking away from her already more limited word budget.

Also, Wrex isn't one of the options, but that's not a problem exclusive to ME1.

Kaidan. It's funny because I wasn't planning to romance anyone when I first started playing. I was so ready to play a character married to her work. Then that goddamn goody two shoes started being all nice and caring and then rambling about books and stuff and I'm a weak person, leave me be...  :pinched:

What I like about the romance is that Kaidan, in my opinion, is a character that has a lot going on if you bother listening to him and the romance has a slow and steady build-up and it's quite cute and fluffy. It doesn't start abruptly and it just overall seems like a natural development. The couple can eventually show they truly care for each other and I generally love their dynamic. I feel like Kaidan is somebody Shepard can lean on when she needs it and vice versa. I also like that they act mature about their relationship and decide to tread carefully because of the regulations against fraternisation, so while they can both agree they're serious about it, they also agree they have to be patient, and I'm glad for the rational approach.

To me, the romance felt very satisfying just in ME1 alone. I'm happy I went for it, especially after seeing the whole franchise, because it's a really deep, interesting, sort of complicated and sweet thing and it became a huge part of my Shepard's story.

I'm planning to romance Liara with another femShep sometimes. I'm kind of sorry she got so little dialogue in ME1, though, but I'm looking forward to trying it out and progressing her romance from there to where she then gets more content. I do like her shy and awkward side in ME1. I think it's adorable.

All my FemSheps romanced Liara (and stayed loyal to her throughout the series). I think she has the most complete romance arc and probably the best overall...but her ME1 romance is more of a mixed bag of course. There are some really good scenes, and some irritating things like the constant fainting for example. My BroShep remained single.

Femshep always goes with Kaidan (and stays faithful to him throughout).
I put my Maleshep with Ashley and then I dumped her for Miranda.

None of the available. Liara feels too young and naive, and to be sure, I do not find her voice attractive (sorry), Ashley, well, nevermind, just not attractive to me, and I've never considered Kaidan really, because I'm a straight guy, even though I play femshep.

It's a shame we couldn't romance some more of those aliens.
I play femshep.

1. Went with Kaidan and staid loyal

2. Singleton, waiting for my alien lover.

3. Gonna import my kaidan romance and get some of that Thane fishy ass. Sorry Kaidan

I do really like Kaidan a lot, he's a nice guy, decent character. But I was always angry after Horizon.

Liars and Ashley both on different playthrus. Once didn't romance anyone. Doing a trilogy play thru now. I think I'll romance Ashley. But not sure she will make it past virmire....

Kaiden. Female Shepard. I only played a female character and only once did I beat the game, so there's that.

So far I have not played the game through with a mShep, so the choices for me have been Kaidan, Liara and nobody. (I play on PC but haven't figured out how the save editor works; not that I mind really, it hurts my heart to leave Kaidan on Virmire anyways). But I have to say, I'm a Kaidan-girl through and through and if I start his romance in ME, I play through the whole trilogy with it (has happened at least five times). I have romanced Liara only once and it was just to get something to do... Other few times I have just went romance-less.

Ashley or Liara. FemShep has always gone with Liara, but there's a playthrough coming up where I think she will go with Kaidan. That dreamy, SOB finally needs to get some FemShep action in one of my playthroughs lol.

Ash is always there for my MaleShep. I've done Liara playthroughs, but especially in ME1 she just seems so inexperienced, versus Shep being a fairly veteran soldier at that point.

I tend to default to Liara as she has the strongest and most complete romance over the trilogy, once you add in Lair of the Shadow Broker.

I am a straight guy and as I become invested in my characters I simply can not make my game avatar, femshep or any other female pc, flirt with a guy.  I know it's probably sexist but I always go for a girl, or female heavy unisex alien in Liara's case, or very rarely just go stag.  So as a mshep I have to think whether or not Shep wants little boys and girls of his own and if yes, Ashley or stag and wait for Jack in ME2, if not it's probably 80/20 split in Liara's favor.  Femshep always Liara, she is much more forgiving of you pursuing someone else in later games if I go that route considering she practically breaks up with you when you meet up in ME2.

ME1: No one. Waited for m/m.

ME2: No one. Waited for m/m.

ME3: (Cortez by mistake lol then reloaded and) Kaidan.

Cortez was honestly a hilarious mistake. We're just dancing bro... y u gotta rub up on me? :)

Kaidan isn't the best but he's good enough. I only wish I had more to go on in ME1-ME2.

My boyfriend went (as MaleShep):

ME1: No one. No interest.

ME2: Miranda.

ME3: Miranda.

My friend who visits to play, she went (as FemShep):

ME1: Liara.

ME2: Liara so far (though in a passive way; no embracing after fighting Shadow Broker!)

ME3: ? Guess she'll only have to pick from Liara and Kaidan and Samantha anyway?

I was waiting for something more reflective of my attractions, my boyfriend just didn't find interest, and my friend was good with going for Liara but liked a sort of aloof approach. A romance just to have a romance.
