Hello, all.

For over a decade and a half, I lived in a boring desert city in the middle of Arizona. There wasn't a whole lot to do, so I spent a great deal of time on my computer. I discovered this awesome game (NWN), and it was my creative outlet and escape from the depressing boredom of "real life". I lived, breathed, and yes, even dreamed of creating new things and making the game do what hadn't been done before.

In June of this year, I moved back to my real home, Wisconsin. Along with the ever-expanding time demands of raising four children, much more time is being taken up by house maintenance, family functions, socializing with neighbors, school work, baking, and other activities outside the house.

In January of 2014, I took it upon myself to take on the Community Expansion Pack to revive it and get it back into the hands of the NWN community. I made sure to let others know that if I couldn't commit the time and effort to keeping the CEP going, that I'd pass on "control" of it to someone else (instead of claiming it as "mine" as was done by a previous admin).

I think the time has come to pass the "captain's hat" of this great ship to someone else.

I've had one volunteer already via PM, but since this project belongs to the entire community, I'm posting for all to discuss.

As a bonus to the next captain, I'll be passing along all of the files I used to edit 2da files and all of the documentation I found and compiled. There won't be a need to try to figure it all out from scratch.

I'm not dropping out of the community, just passing on the CEP. I'll still be compiling the CCC every month, still keep the community site running, and still sometimes make new stuff for the community to use.

Thank you for having invested the enormous amount of time that you have helping to get CEP back on its feet and moving forward again!  Not to mention all the other wonderful ways you help support the community (like with Neverwinternights.info) and still having time to run a PW and make cool creations.  It's a boggling amount of dedication.

Although it never came to fruition, at one point a parallel build of CEP was put on GITHub or someplace like that with permission from the folks who run the site for such a large archive.  I think the idea was, one or two people could have admin access and other (known, trusted modelers) could have access to make changes with the admins still in control of rejecting the modifications if they wanted.  Then, being GITHub, anyone could potentially offer to make changes.

Sort of "spread the load around" so no one person has to do too much work.

Many thanks for your outstanding leadership of CEP, not only delivering great releases, but also setting the gold standard for community consultation and author attribution.

I welcome the suggestion of having more than one keyholder, for good order.

Adding my thanks for reviving such a great wealth of content for the community and for all of the mountain of work you've done with NWN through the years.  Hopefully the next captain of the ship will bring the same steady even hand on the wheel of CEP that you did.

To those wondering, I was the one volunteering, though I don't want to stand in the way of anyone else. My approach would be somewhat conservative and what I imagine to do is first of all maintenance, adding basic content and perhaps work on some user friendliness, rather than reworking the entire thing. If someone with more ambition (not to mention time!) wants to take over things instead, I won't object. Personally though, I have the impression that conservative might be the approach that the CEP needs at this point.

I think CEP would benefit greatly from your knowledge of it Zarathustra217. I think documentation might be the best place to start - from some of the posts I've seen people are more than a little confused (overwhelmed) and have difficulties setting things up. However, once things are up and running, the posts asking for help seem to dwindle away.

As one of my main concerns with the CEP has always been the lack of useful documentation I wholeheartedly agree with Pstmarie. I also agree that Zarathustra217 would be a great choice to oversee it.

Cool, was kinda hoping either you or Proleric would take over.

Btw, some of the stuff you fixed for 2.60 didn't make it into the actual release(s). I noticed that one DoD lizardman's neck, the missing lizardmen tail and the infamous square root pigs, but there might be more, so maybe that's something to look into as well.

And of course a big thank you to the Amethyst Dragon for all his work in resurrecting and patching up the CEP.

Further futile reiteration of the thanking motif already purveyed by others!

Honestly, I turn my back for a week or two and everyone starts running away...

I'm not running away! In fact I'm poised to run back here in large quantities... soon.

Echoing others - TAD, thank you for breathing life back into CEP and all the other stuff you've done and are still doing.  :)

How, exactly, are you proposing to "run in large quantities"?

How many of you are there? Have you been messing around with that Automated Gene Sequencer and cloned yourself by the cartload again? I've warned you about that before...

I would advise against ever asking for an explanation whenever someone includes "run" and "in large quantities" in the same sentence. Trust me. You don't want to know what that looks and smells like.

Especially as the filth ccc was last month...

I realise that my imagination can outrun all of yours in this train of thought (in large quantities), but shall restrain myself not to hijack this important 'CEP-handover-thankyou-TAD' thread into some completely ridiculous direction like the 'ROFLMAO' peninsula or 'Lolz on tap' rapids.

Seems like the community has spoken! Even the latest polls show that Zarathustra217 is in high regard.

Do you like that Zarathustra217 has stepped up to take control of CEP? [ YES / NO ]

Results: 32 / 0

FP!

Well that is certainly flattering!

Where was this poll, out of curiosity?

I think it was in FP's head :)

(Not that I would expect the results to be too different in the real world, but finding 32 voters...)

For some odd reason, I keep hearing this spoken with Jon Irenicus' voice.

It is totally weirding me out!

Thanks for all your work TAD!
