Technically, daggers are the only weapons that can be dual-wielded.

The devs decided to reduce the limit from 2 to 1 after some complaints, because we all know whiners have reasons...

But the truth is, 2 Hakkon daggers sounds a lot better than it is in reality. Everything melts with 1 Hakkon dagger, a second one doesn't nearly give you as much reward as the first one does.

In my humble opinion, Bloody Bargain, Savage Thorn and Silencer are better than a second Hakkon dagger. Of course, Bloody Bargain wins hand down the contest, that dagger is crazy freaking good... (the Assassin and the Alchemist are already good, but with that dagger they become the Harbinger of Destruction)

With bosun's blade you can 1 shot pride demons in NM with an assassin, so happy daze!

I'm getting the feeling that this book reward chest will be the last one. Giving people these items will make the game easier and getting a number of items this good feels like a goodbye.

There seem to be a lot of vitriol about the reward of Book 3. People are expecting the moon without having played the game...

The fact is, Book 3 reward is the first one to actually be fair.

Based on quick observation, here's how it works:

 • If you're missing any class' Drakescale armors, you're gonna unlock these
 • If you're missing any level 26 blue card (must keep in your inventory for the level 26 purple to drop), you're gonna unlock these
 • If you're missing any level 26 purple card, you're gonna unlock these
 • If you're missing any Hakkon weapon, you're gonna unlock these
 • If you're missing any level 27 weapon or the Physical Immunity amulet, you're gonna unlock these
 • If you're missing nothing of the previous, you're gonna unlock Crescent Blade (ultimate weapon)
The reward is based on how much you played the game. Of course, there's still RNG in it as it's based on whatever you could get your hands on previously, but the whole reward is built to give what you're missing, from bottom to top. Thus, the reward is going from good to incredible based on where you are on that loot "progression".

Expecting to bypass all the loot "progression" is asking to be treated differently than the others. It would be totally unfair to all the players that actually play the game regularly (20+ hours/week). They can't give you end game items that took others hundreds of hours to get just because you want them and don't want to play that much...

The reward IS fair, I do understand that hearing regular players actually unlocking the most convoluted items can set high expectations, but the reward IS fair...

Untrue. Got 26 purple repeat. Missing Hakkon, didn't unlock.

It's not.

Also expecting to bypass the loot progression? Wut? People in the lowest loot table are bypassing it getting Hakkons from chest and PIs and level 27 weapons. While others and I (supposedly in the highest loot bucket) are getting crap. Yep, fair.

I don't think so.

There are challenges until January, enough to fill Book 4 and 5. They created them for that very reason and they mentioned that's how it's gonna work on their last Twitch (Dragons & Donuts).

My feeling is, Book 3 reward was a way to apologize to the most loyal players for the HORRIBLE deception that was Book 1 & 2. Both were hyped as being the pinnacle of coolness and that players were gonna ****** their pants, but the fact is the rewards were salvage junk for all hardcore players.

1 end game item per book is reasonable. Since the first 2 were insulting, they decided to put in 3 in Book 3. I expect Book 4 & 5 to only have 1 end game item, which is fair play since you should still play the game to get most of those items.

I only said it's based on quick observation.

Thing is, I'm pretty sure you were missing level 26 purples. The RNG allow repeat on those. Bioware probably coded you needed all level 26 purple before not dropping them in the chest.

I'll admit this is a bit unfair coming from the chests, but this is the reality that all players suffer, even those that already got those level 26 purples. My personal experience is 19 Mauls, 15 Longswords, 14 Staves, 12 Shields, 2 Daggers and 1 Bow (got it this thursday), over hours upon hours of Ferelden Castle. It ain't pretty, but that's how it work for all players. You get screwed by RNG.

Hakkons and level 27 don't allow for repeats, except the Hakkon dagger (limit of 2 total).

I'm not sure people in the lowest loot bucket are getting those items. You only need 800 items to unlock an Hakkon so those people unlocking them might not be in the lowest loot bucket to begin with. I'll admit they're very low in the loot bucket table, but that rule is known for quite some time. They were very lucky to get those Hakkon, I guess there is a bit more RNG than what I thought. Overall, I still think the reward is fair in the context the RNG is built.

I am missing the Staff and the Maul. Ironically, the game didn't even give me those (I have their blues).

The reward could be called good (for most people) but I don't think it's fair. It would be fair if as you said, it progressed in the way you outlined strictly.

I was missing a level 26 purple, I was sure it was going to be in my chest, but instead I got another Hakkon's Mercy and two 27s.

I was also dreading getting a Master Stamulet in my chest. How I still don't have one after so many runs post-Valor, I don't know.

Got bosuns, mercy, and gift from the reward. I then got Brand from a normal chest right after.

I only need dancers and crescent now. I guess pretty good for only playing a couple hours a month. :)

Bosuns is really fun but leveling the assassin is so tedious.

I played a few games with Pronto last night while he was using the Bosun's Blade. He was hitting for 4K with auto-attacks at level one. All you need is someone to draw aggro, then everything dies.

They shouldn't have put the drakescale armors in there, are you kidding me!?

I mean did they really need to have a place in this last chest when they're easily obtained by just playing the 3 classes? Hadn't touched rogue in a while so I ended up getting the armor for that class.... *Blood boil

Glad the rest got their super awesome stuff, though.

well my xbone account got hakon mercy twice, 3 level 27 purple weapons (didn't have the blue cards though) 2 of the lvl 27 shields and a couple of older purple items, that account whilst old has only been used for about 300 games of multiplayer and despite having all the drakescale gear those weapons are whats going to see it progress to being able to do peri and above.

otoh my pc account has over 2000 games completed had zero of the new top tier gear and received 3 shields (one was a duplicate) a lvl 27 purple and 2 lvl 26 blue cards ..... the rng didn't work things out right here me thinks

I empathize with those that still feel slighted by the RNGeeus. I can also smile with everyone that is so happy about what they got. Here's hoping RNG-luck stays for those that seem to have it and starts for all others.

[sends out good vibes]

So while I should have read this thread prior to opening this chest, I ended up lucky as a m*therf*cker since I recently (within last 5 days) completed the set of 26s and got my 4th Hakkon. As a result, chest gave me: Knight's Second, Bolt, and the kicker, Hakkon's Mercy, completing my Hakkon set!

While this is awesome for me and many others, I'm sure the players who ground out 400+ dragons for their Hakkons (I'm around 100 NM dragons :o) are red and mad.

I worked 10 hours and finished all my class amours before killing the 6th dragon based on the info here( that you could get the armor if you did not finish them). I got my second Hakkon, the bow, and Andruil's Gift. I hope the next 5 weeks results in a similar result. The game is dying, it would be good to see more of the end game loot before that happens.

Well I am missing two (2) level 26 purples (maul and longsword) and I got Rime, Electric Bow (can't remember name), and another Hakkon dagger... Yeah for 2x Hakkon daggers, best drop I've had in the last 2-3mil gold spent. :D
