Is the Ark a confirmed thing?

Was it just humans placed on the Ark, or were there aliens too, or possibly other Earth animals? Reaching Andromeda would be an incredibly long trip, so were they cryogenically frozen or something, or just expected to reproduce and keep the population going within the Ark until it arrived?

How many peeps were put in the Ark? Hopefully a lot, since a bare minimum of at least 500 genetically divergent (meaning unrelated) humans would be needed to sustain a viable population. Were humans placed on the Ark chosen based on the quality of their genes?

Is genetic engineering still a thing on the Ark?

I don't think anyone can answer those questions, yet.

I find that the N7 Typhoon is a very effective method of population control.

Also the ark isn't actually confirmed, so nobody knows.

I think the best way to control the population would be to limit the amount of straight people allowed on board.

With the genetic technology they have in the ME universe I assume inbreeding is a much smaller concern.

I don't believe we have confirmation about Ark at all, I think it's popular fantheory. If there is ark I don't think it's filled only humans cause we have Milky Wayan aliens in ME:A, not only humans. Ark can be either for purpose to scout the new galaxy or populate it to make either colony or new home for humankind/milky wayan aliens. If it's first one then there is no need to large crew and big ship in order to populate new area. Genetics need to be thought about mostly if the new galaxy is for saving the mankind and Milky Wayn aliens from being destroyed, otherwise more ships can be sent after the first one. Though I'm not even sure if ours is going to be first one there.

We really don't know anything yet. AFAIK the leak (if true, which seems likely) didn't mention any specifics about this.

Ark isn't confirmed,

but if they have stasis pods, population control wouldn't be an issue.

Easiest way to control population is to not think about it.

Just count it as one of those things you sweep under the rug and forget about. Yes it's an issue, but as long as the writers say overpopulation ain't happening, then that's fine enough for me.

As a player, I don't need to burden myself with small things like this. Things that I can't even control

Yes. The ship already got a name, too. It's the Love Boat.

What ever it is, the ship will have at least a minimal live crew.  Guessing about 20 people + 3 or 4 squad members for the Protagonist.

If it is an 'ark' type ship then the hold can store fertilized eggs for use in mechanical wombs once a suitable planet/location is found.  Thousands to millions of future humans, turians, krogan, salarian, quarian and those silly blue things (joking here :)   )  could be stored.  And, the ship would not need the resources to feed all those mouths for the journey.

Cyrogenic tubes could be used but the ship would then been huge and would have taken much longer to build than taking a current ship, adding a big freezer and a few medical units and then shipping it off to Andromeda.

There is some destination point in trailer which name looks like "Ark", but it has less pixels than emoticon on this forum. So it can be "Axe" or "Ahh" or whatever you want.

I think you putting more thought's into this than Bioware. I don't think they even care something like this. Arc population is as plot demands it. Like DA Inquisition army strength is as strong as plot need,

Honestly, I doubt the game will explain how we came to the Andromeda Cluster. It serves no purpose.

It's a new game and it picks up some time after Humans got there but still early enough that they are struggling to get a solid foothold.  If anything, I expect the Codex will have the relative entries to satisfy the curious.

But they'll still need to breed when they arrive.

Ergo, the pathfinder initiative is composed entirely of bisexual swingers.

Good thing, then, you're not one of the Ark's planners.

The Op presupposes a multi generational ARK, unless the ARK is equipped with a Trans Galactic Warp Drive of some sort. If the latter, you don't need pop control because.. you got it, they have the Trans Galactic Warp Drive engine(s) to get there in "no time".

If multi-generational, where their descendants will arrive in Andromeda, pop control is essential as food/air/space are the limiting factors. All you need to do to understand this is to look at your family tree to see the exponential growth pattern(s).  Then of course, you must have an educational systems to, at minimum, maintain your tech knowledge. And, you must also plan for serious problems during your voyage to mitigate disasters. A Plan B and C and D.. required.

Just limit Straight People hu? As opposed to what? And when these Not Straight people die, how will you replace them? via parthenogenesis? cloning? magic mushrooms?
