Overlooked Themes From Trilogy Worth Exploring In ME:A

Bio-engineering tech was well developed during the trilogy.  Miranda was created before the events of ME (4 years Shepard's senior), Saren and co brought back the extinct Rachni, and test tube baby Kro Grunt was created fairly quickly iirc.

Given the Reaper biz during the trilogy it makes perfect sense that scientific breakthroughs were put on the back burner.  Time was of the essence.  During times of war resources are largely allocated towards killing the enemy.

My impression is ME:A moves at a slower pace.  What are some themes from the trilogy that you'd like to see expanded?  For example those biotic implants into humans that Kaidan had

Human Biotics was the only big missed opportunity that I thought they skipped too much of. It was kind of going somewhere and then puttered out. Probably because the dark energy story got scrapped.. not sure.

The vorcha is too funny. Sometimes he's one of the rare bright spots of this section.

I mean, that might be because of his constantly setting things on fire, but that doesn't mean he's any less appreciated.

See, the thing about putting technology in the central thematic spotlight of your story is that you actually have to get it right.

For most fiction, getting technology wrong is obviously a problem, but it doesn't do much to affect the central themes because the central theme were never about technology. There were about human relationships and conflicts and whatever. (And contrary to what too many imbecilic comments on this forum would imply, all but an exquisitely tiny group of stories get a lot of things wrong.)

But if you're making the relationship between people and technology a serious thematic core of your story, and if your grasp of technology is stupid, the plot and resolution falls apart. It doesn't function.

Suffice is to to say, this is pretty much the same group of people who did not immediately stomp out the stinking dog turd of Synthesis as the stupidest thing they've ever heard in their lives, as rightfully should have happened. That's enough evidence for me to be indicative that trusting BioWare to do this sort of thing right is paramount to idiocy.

That's very funny.

On-topic, themes do not matter and are not real.

I'm currently replaying the trilogy(I always am lol) and the dark energy foreshadowing is kinda annoying when you know it doesn't amount to anything. I'd like to see them continue that plot somehow in Andromeda instead of just dropping it completely.

Income inequality, migration and cultural integration within and between different species were interesting minor themes in ME2 i'd like them to explore in more detail; the vivid contrasts and similarities between the different settings like Omega and Illium and our world in these regards were stark and fascinating. Illium was an interesting showcase of how different species/cultures promote or in some cases obstruct upward social mobility.

The Asari being a series of republics means you get these interesting social experiments like Ilium where as a consequence of libertarian economic policy (of lack their of, rather) legalized slavery is the answer to the poverty/inequality it creates. Ilium is somehow seen as a model of polite society (where anyone who is anyone would want to be) and yet in the same breath Batarian slavers/traders/pirates on Omega, etc. are a dangerous blight on the galaxy to the civilized world - they essentially do the same things outside of citadel laws but the Asari are a favored client state. The geopolitics of the different states and the terminus helped to create a more immersive believable world.

Contrasting values systems more broadly is something I love about the series: take the Salarians and Krogan who are like diametric opposites in their values which is reflected in their worlds - Salarians are logic orientated, tech savvy, environmentally conscious hipsters (CA) who adapted to their world, whereas the Krogan are instinctual, traditionalist, pro-war survivalists (TX Republicans) who's world has adapted to them. I'd like to see more contrasts of how societal ideology effects the ecology of different planets.

Overlooked theme? Vorcha vocabulary. Also, your spelling is spectacular. How did they not get a seat on the council?

I suppose cybernetics would count, since even as far back as ME1 we had Saren walking around with a Geth arm. I guess husks and ME3 Cerberus went into the theme of augmentation, but never in any really deep way. That's fine by me tbh, it's simply not a core theme of ME.

me with a crazy train Idea of new and improved Cerberus Phantoms with the butt of Miranda Lawson................it is not the first time I had strange ideas. At least it is not as bad when I was under Reaper Indoctrination. Dr. Pepper is a good way to overcome Reaper Indoctrination. So if you have weird black and white dreams of Kids puking Oily Shadows and urge to upgrade yourself unsafely.....Down a few liters of Dr. Pepper and slap yourself silly. Dr. Pepper is love Dr. Pepper is life.
