Technically, this is true. However, the general consensus is that this is a good thing, because ME1 combat was lame.

True, in comparison. And I don't really see any thematic inconsistencies, only superficial changes and new uses to existing technologies.

(aside from the heat sink thing, that was dumb)

Really? I find the gameplay of ME2 and ME3 feeling more similar to Bioshock than to ME1.

I actually liked ME1's more stat based combat the most. *shrugs* It just needed more tweaks.

That with more biotic powers would've been great.

I liked 3's the least but I'm well into the minority on that.

I'm guessing because you could snipe a mook 50 meters away with a shotgun, It's fun but gets stale. There is no challenge other than getting awkwardly hugged by a geth. *more evidence that the geth are just puppies that are confused*

It feels like an rpg gears of war except with more options other than sitting in cover for eons.

Overpowered? In a singleplayer game? Hmm... Ok...

Finding moving from A to B really fast in a game that has FTL silly? Hmm... Ok...

Well, I don't care. I want shadow strike. It's awesome.

I also want a mech or a combat suit. I want map sizes so big, that if I'm a sniper, I can kill enemies minutes before I'd be able to as a close range character. I want snap freeze. I want a damn shield. And I want a real turret (like cerberus's) if I wanna play defensive and lure the enemy in.

If BW want a melee subclass in Andromeda they could handwave the lore to make it fit e.g. micro-blah blahs in undersuit allow for short burst of increased speed, the wearer can move seemingly in the blink of a eye, Stealthy Ninjas have been known to use this feature to plant bombs or disrupt enemy barriers/shield with their tech babble sword without being seen.

A sword doesn't have to pierce armour it could just turn the tech part of it into a liability. Engineers could do the same thing but from a distance.

I really only used pistols and biotic powers 90% of the time so.... no idea what you're talking about. Lol.

Shotguns are op, and the biotics are ok. Ive played vanguard and rarely used the biotics in that game if i could just use the magical one shot boom stick.

as silly as shadow strike is i can accept it, It makes some sense considering you can just assume the shadow ran across towards her target. I still really want bioware to replace the magic katanas with omni swords in andromeda. It makes more sense and it's less absurd in the context of the ME universe

I've always wanted wield a pair of omni-blades to attack like a duel-wielding rouge the in DA series.

Sometimes, I wish I could have Shepard sneak up behind Cerberus troopers and jam a regular knife into their necks. There will always be a place for a proper physical blade.

So instead of using his/her omni blade which is more efficient and ALREADY in the damn game! You want to implement another primitive weapon in the games? Javik will NOT approve. It's like you want the mass effect games turn into another generic first person shooter. Whats next? flintlock pistols?

You can already do that, play sentinel or vorcha.

I would like to point out that physical knives are already in the games and technically have been longer than omni-blades. We just don't see one get used until the Rannoch arc if you side with the Quarians.

Also, it's been a while since I've played, but doesn't the omni-blade make a charging sound when you use it? If nothing else the glow of an omni-tool makes it ill suited for stealth kills without the benefit of a cloak.

There's something to be said for the reliability of cold, sharp metal when it comes to damaging an organic body.

Cold, sharp metal, is even more reliable when shot at a hyper velocity and rate from a railgun...

More reliable as opposed to...? I never specified any particular form or source, and the specific image you've painted fits rather neatly inside of my general one.

After accelerating to hypersonic speeds, it won't be cold, let alone sharp.

And offcourse railguns, like volvos, never break down or run outta gas. :P

We've had ranged weapons for thousands of years. It hasn't stopped extremely close quarters combat...

Haven't you guys ever had a bad christmas or thanksgiving dinner? Before you get your railgun over the table you'll get stabbed in the eye.

Nuking the entire site from orbit is the only way to be sure though.

You can play by yourself if you make a private game and start the match  :D

Although trying to solo with a level 1 predator is not fun.
