Just do it like ME1 - in vacuum and other hostile environments, everyone wears a helmet, because to do otherwise would be really stupid. In places with breathable atmosphere, the player choses whether they show helmets or not, because it at least lets us appreciate the character creator if we so desire and isn't quite as stupid as not wearing them in space.

I'm not sure how Biotic squadmates will appear when they are in extreme temperatures/conditions in certain planets or space stations. Like in LotSB, Liara only has a breather whereas Shepard and Garrus were wearing full helmets during the massive storm. I also took Miranda and Jack once, they also only had breathers. I would think it should be equal with all squadmates. There are certain situations that require full helmets IMO

One million billion trillion times helmets.

In general it should depend on the environment - BUUUT biotic fields could contain their own atmospheres for short times?  Might make for an exciting timed mission or one where if your field goes down...so do you (unless you have rapid recharge gear).

I mean 1,000 years later our biotics should have evolved a bit in capability and capacity alongside our acquired knowledge through Reaper study/help.  We should be in a trans-human post human era of technology that even cerberus would have envied.  But ofc that may not be the case if someone has gene roddenberry-esque thoughts of human purity in mind.

About which hypothetical ME game are you talking?

Helmets... or at leas some separate goggle eye piece thing if with a breather. I never understood how people just had their eyes exposed to the vacuum of space.

For the Asari and possibly Prothean and biotic krogan, I actually expect the ability to maintain a biotic field capable of sustaining them in extreme environs. Asari are all born biotics and have been space faring for thousands of years and it was probably an ability encoded in the during the Prothean uplift. Protheans and Krogan likely acquired the talent in a a more Darwinian vein.

So far as other biotics? I'd wager most all contemporary biotic practice stems fundamentaly from Asari techniques, so that technique was likely passed on to other cultures from them.

Why? If a squadmate is fine with a breather, what's the issue?

Because according to the lore of the Mass Effect franchise and basic physics, they would be dead if wearing just a breather.

They should be (as all selfrespecting spellcasters) equipped with POINTED HATS. Screw hard vacuum, who cares about breathing when you can be stylish!

Actually, no...they wouldn't. Because they're BIOTICS...who have this great thing call a Biotic Shield. I'm sure it's fairly easy for most Biotics to use a small shield to keep themselves alive.

Biotic shields don't shield you from environmental hazards.

I guess BioWare forgot that? Or they were too lazy to give every character a fully sealed suit? Not in the budget?

Full helmets.

Breather masks and biotics wouldn't protect against hazardous environmental conditions or the hard vacuum of space. Besides the lore issues involved there, helmets also just look about a thousand times more awesome.

Breather masks should cease to exist.

You're in a combat situations, and head shots are a much higher probability with you wearing just a breather mask. -_-

Take them off the surface of Venus and try again. No-one's asking for the characters to have helmets welded to their very skulls, just for the vacuum of space to be taken a little more seriously.

You shallow, shallow little man.

Personally I'd be happy for the return of breather masks or at least helmets that allow full visibility of the companions face.

Have you ever heard of space magic? It's amazing stuff:

- Makes dying warriors sexy

- De-greases engines

- Throws pesky enemies out the window

- Blocks the vacuum of space

And so forth...
