Thank you! Now you've got me thinking who I'd cast for which elemental Inquisitor.

 

I'm too lazy to make a proper picture post (maybe later, after work), but I'm just putting forward the following names for now. You can tell who my favorites are because I keep fancasting them in different roles

 

• Leïla Bekhti as Josephine Montilyet

 

• I'd actually love to see Gwendoline Christie kill it as Empress Celene

 

• Golshifteh Farahani as Briala because Farahani has this intense gaze that looks like she would go as far as topple empires to secure the freedom of her people.

 

OR

 

• Oona Chaplin as Briala!!

 

• Hell, let's put Ruth Negga in there too!

 

• Iain Glen as Loghain Mac Tir, Just give him a wig.

 

• John Boyega as Ser Barris, because he does have this really earnest look to him, like he's the good guy who really does want to fulfill his duties for good. 

 

• I will renege on my statement that there could be no substitute for Claudia Black as Morrigan; Mylene Jampanoi would make an amazing younger Morrigan.

 

• A blonde Carice Van Houten for Knight-Commander Meredith.

• TILDA SWINTON for KNIGHT-COMMANDER MEREDITH.

 

• Lotte Verbeek as Leliana.

 

• Ugh, I still want to say James McAvoy for Solas. Heaven forbid it be Benedict Cumberbatch (who I like, but he. is. in. everything).

 

• Or Tom...Hiddleston...for Solas? I just feel it has to be an actor who can pull off that particular juxtaposition of humble, ageless wisdom and prideful ambition, and Hiddleston and McAvoy -- being the great actors that they are -- have that capability. 

 

• Idris Elba as someone because he has to be in more things, because rawr.

 

I am having far too much fun with this  . However, as I'm pretty bad at casting Old White Dudes™ I'll happily leave Chancellor Roderick to someone else, lmao.

I have a certain personal stance when it comes to casting Dorian that I want to state with all due respect, as I know people will always have their own particular idea of who fits a character best. I also know that this thread is just for fun, so what I have to say this isn't directed to anyone here, but:

In the event that an actual movie is being made, I'd personally be livid if Dorian winds up being whitewashed by the film producers.  Talented men of color are out there. You can't overlook actors like Ramon Tikaram, Sendhil Ramamurthy or Arjun Rampal. And tbh, they can all probably grow epic Dorian mustaches.

 

 

 

I'd like to see him evil. Just because.

But Idris Elba as Logain Mac Tir though.

tatterdemalion, your fan-castings are really interesting - James McAvoy as Solas, Tilda as Meredith, and the necessity of Idris Elba!  In truth, I've been keeping Golshifteh Farahani in my pocket, not only because I tried to style my Lavellan Inquisitor to look like her (fail), but because I am hoping that there's going to be an essential, pivotal role for her in DA4 and Tevinter.

 

And for Martin Sensmeier too.  More characters of color would be nice.  Perhaps Tevinter can come through for us.

I personally see Dorian less Indian and more Middle-Eastern. Tevinter is supposedly the Byzantine Empire is it not? But that's just me xD

With that being said, I'd cast Omar Borkan Al Gala as anything Tevinter because he IS very handsome and in my head everyone in Tevinter is handsome, male and female alike lol

I was racking my brain for Middle-Eastern actors to include in my post above -- there was one actor whose name I've forgotten so it's like argh. The point that I suppose I was trying to make was that I'd rather see someone like Arjun Rampal over, say, Benedict Cumberbatch at the very least.

 

(Not that I consider Cumberbatch to look remotely anything like Dorian; but since he's practically in everything, I wouldn't be surprised if casting directors chose him over someone of another ethnicity for any role   ).

 

And I agree -- Omar Borkan Al Gala is just too beautiful for words. Wasn't he ordered out of his country for being too handsome at one point?

If Tevinter is inspired by the Byzantine Empire, and I sooo hope it is, then we can have everything from pre-Turk, Greek, Arab, Egyptian (which includes people such as Nubians and various sub-Saharan Africans), Eastern influences of Mongol, Mughal and Causcasus slave Janissaries! (though that edges into Ottoman, but Tevinter has Orlesian, Fereldan, and Avarr slaves along with Elven slaves, yes?)

But Idris Elba as Logain Mac Tir though.

I was on set for Netflix's Marco Polo, nearly all the epic mustaches and beards were wigs.

 

It's kind of amazing to see the terrifying Kublai Khan completely bald and clean face jammin' out to his iPod in an elevator.

 

So even if they cast someone without an epic stache, movie magic can make it happen.

 

PS: I also wore a whole bunch of wigs since I am bald IRL. The other girls all had extensions as well.

Really I think Orlando Bloom would be pretty good as Zev.  Throw some work to a dialect coach as well as a wigmaker.  We already know Bloom plays a good elf and can do good fight scenes.  Another option is Pedro Pascal, the guy who played The Red Viper in GoT.  He might make a good Antivan, if not elf; Chilean Spanish accent, fight experience,but he doesn't look as much the part as Bloom.
