Not sure if a thread like this has been made already but since I've been playing I've heard lots of crazy rumors in different PUGs. Stuff like getting bonuses for not using the health fonts and not using trebuchets gives better loot drops and that I'm a scrub. Heard any other crazy or completely untrue ones?

I've heard the health font one and the guy could not be dissuaded from this belief.  I don't talk to people much and most of my games are pretty quiet.

I've had people insist you get 10% bonus xp from not using the fonts, that you get an xp bonus if you don't open any doors, that you get an xp bonus if you open all the doors, that the chest had gold in it because my inventory was full and I was screwing everyone over, that the person who opened the chest door has to be the one to activate the chest in order to get purple drops, that I should stop using caltrops cause they suck... Man, what nonsense haven't I heard from pugs? Who starts these weird rumours?

I confess I'm a little superstitious that a person of the class who opened the door should open the chest but, intellectually, know it is nothing but superstition and it's not something I rant about in match (or at all) but if I'm playing with friends I let the person who opened the door get the chest.

I know that Mobius and I have tried to foment as many rumors as possible. For example, have you heard that ringing the gong from the backside increases your chance of a Hakkon weapon drop? It's true...

Lies! How else is one supposed to self revive at half health on nightmare (and alienate other players)?

you get 150 bonus xp every time you teabag someone on the head & 200 if you manage to align perfectly with their arsehole.

I've also heard that if you smash no pots & open no treasure rooms your rewards from dragons are better.

Completing a run faster generates bonus exp

(actually the opposite is true as faster completes generate less tank and support exp)

Everyone should equip critical damage rings as soon as possible

(no)

Completing agent specific challenges increases the chance of epic weapons dropping for that class

Here's one I coined:

Stronger classes give more exp and stronger enemies

Weaker classes give less exp and weaker enemies

Higher levels generate more exp and stronger enemies

Now these are in fact correlated, just the logic behind it is false

Higher levels suggest weaker players --> match will be harder

Lower levels suggest better player --> match will be easier

Same for stronger classes like the arcane versus the assassin

Higher levels suggest more abilities, thus more tank and support exp

The don't-use-fonts rumor is old as the hills. Unless anything has stealth-changed, it's bunk.

I know Rundagutz and Wessamba and Myself did a few.
Them in particular:
-if everyone has the nug portrait on then you have a chance for another nug spawning (that one made a full circle, heard it in so many PUGs lol)
-running circles around ZITHER! will make him hit the dragon harder (it was just killer set )
And my personal favorite, almost killed a few PUGs with it:
-on first wave FC on the bridge. if you look, while fighting on the bridge, at the cheese wheel it will spin. Left the PUGs distracted while surrounded by enemies ;)

I remember when it was "common knowledge" that you couldn't loot anything above level 16 from chests behind doors.

Back in March I was playing in a game where a pug joined in zone 4, ran up to the rogue door I had walked past a minute earlier (I was an assassin, but the host didn't seem to want to open doors), opened door, hit the chest, then got wrecked by the Revenant it spawned.

I ran back, killed the Revenant, revived the pug, picked up the gold, then we proceeded to clear the zone, all the while the host screamed at the pug for opening the door.

I got annoyed enough to put my mic in and tell him and the silent pug that there was no harm done, we were still going to clear, and now we had another item to collect after we got out of the game. At this point, the host notifies me that it's not even possible to get anything above level 16 from chests. I told him that was BS and that he didn't know what he was talking about (I had pulled a Sulevin Blade from a chest a week before that, and a Punched by the Maker sometime in December.)

The host continues to scream at me for the rest of the game, saying that he knew what he was talking about, he was high on the leaderboards and had 2000 hours in the game, and he started dropping names from people high on the leaderboards, saying that they say the same thing about items looted from chests.

Some time in the middle of our exchange, a 4th player whom I recognized from the leaderboards (somewhere between 30th and 40th place) dropped into the game. As we finished and loaded back to the lobby, it was dead silent. I checked the leaderboards, and lo and behold, there was the host somewhere around 95th place. I told him that 95th (or whatever it was) was not really "high on the leaderboard" when the leaderboard only consists of 100 people, and that he should go play Call of Duty if he wants to impress anyone with all his BS. He called me an a##hole and left. After about 15 seconds, the person I recognized from the leaderboard plugged in his mic and said "Snake, you're on the leaderboards, right?". I told him I was somewhere around 15. He then told me that that was the funniest thing he had witnessed in DAMP.

The two remaining players and I played a few more games together, and we lived happily ever after.

The End.

TL;DR. Know-it-all host facepalm.

But did you know that if your health is almost gone and you jump off the bridge, your health will be restored? This is true!

Well, if someone in the party opens the door to zone 2.

Self revives from crawling off of the FC zone 3 bridge are a real thing, right? I could have sworn I did this by accident one time.

I don't think so man, I've seen a lot of people who couldn't be revived on the rocks there.

You might also spawn on all fours at the zone entrance

Until that one time where you do it and you just get stuck down there, crawling around in the water. Then you bleed out, and your wraith is stuck floating/swimming with the fishes.

One time I bled out just as I was crawling over the edge of the bridge. My shins and feet were on the bridge, but the rest of me was hanging out over the edge. I was planking whilst dead. Because physics.

I had a game in either May or June where I joined a Threatening Ferelden Castle run. There was a level 19 Arcane Warrior carrying a couple low level newbies, and I jumped in as a level one. The leader chastised me for jumping in as a level one without first asking him if it was OK with him to carry me.

Anyhow, on to the rumor. This AW was telling these impressionable new players that he was cranking out mage promotes to get his willpower up so that he could get more HP. I told him that willpower gives attack damage and magic resistance and has nothing to do with HP, and that constitution is what he needed to raise HP. He laughed at me, then assured me that he understood what the attributes do. I said he obviously didn't understand them as well as he thought. He laughed it off again and told me that he got his information from the Dragon Age Wiki, so obviously I had to be mistaken. He kept giving out "tips" to the new players for the rest of the match.

We finished the match, and I had over 100 more kills than him. The AW said something about how strong I was, and I told him "It's all the promotions I have. Too bad I don't understand what they actually do." Then I left.

I also recall hearing about a game that Pronto and Beerfish were in where an Arcane Warrior was talking about how he stacked up as much strength as he could in his accessories and weapon upgrades so he could do more damage.

TL;DR People have literally no idea what their attributes do.
