I remember when it was "common knowledge" that you couldn't loot anything above level 16 from chests behind doors.

Back in March I was playing in a game where a pug joined in zone 4, ran up to the rogue door I had walked past a minute earlier (I was an assassin, but the host didn't seem to want to open doors), opened door, hit the chest, then got wrecked by the Revenant it spawned.

I ran back, killed the Revenant, revived the pug, picked up the gold, then we proceeded to clear the zone, all the while the host screamed at the pug for opening the door.

I got annoyed enough to put my mic in and tell him and the silent pug that there was no harm done, we were still going to clear, and now we had another item to collect after we got out of the game. At this point, the host notifies me that it's not even possible to get anything above level 16 from chests. I told him that was BS and that he didn't know what he was talking about (I had pulled a Sulevin Blade from a chest a week before that, and a Punched by the Maker sometime in December.)

The host continues to scream at me for the rest of the game, saying that he knew what he was talking about, he was high on the leaderboards and had 2000 hours in the game, and he started dropping names from people high on the leaderboards, saying that they say the same thing about items looted from chests.

Some time in the middle of our exchange, a 4th player whom I recognized from the leaderboards (somewhere between 30th and 40th place) dropped into the game. As we finished and loaded back to the lobby, it was dead silent. I checked the leaderboards, and lo and behold, there was the host somewhere around 95th place. I told him that 95th (or whatever it was) was not really "high on the leaderboard" when the leaderboard only consists of 100 people, and that he should go play Call of Duty if he wants to impress anyone with all his BS. He called me an a##hole and left. After about 15 seconds, the person I recognized from the leaderboard plugged in his mic and said "Snake, you're on the leaderboards, right?". I told him I was somewhere around 15. He then told me that that was the funniest thing he had witnessed in DAMP.

The two remaining players and I played a few more games together, and we lived happily ever after.

The End.

TL;DR. Know-it-all host facepalm.

Are you STILL holding that against me?

Funniest s**t I have read in this forum...

I am dying over here.

Snake, I haven't gamed with you in a while , next time your on hit me up...

"Planking while in the fade..."

Yes.  People never change.  That goes double for fish.  Maybe if you didn't try to influence everyone by constantly waving your leaderboard status at every passing pug, nug, and Inquisition Captain, then I might have let this anecdote go.

If this is true, I don't even want to know how minuscule my Hakkon drop rate actually was.

I don't think so man, I've seen a lot of people who couldn't be revived on the rocks there.

You might also spawn on all fours at the zone entrance

if you get all your mp character's to lvl 20 select keeper then buy boxes from the store and you get much better rewards than when there all random levels and you use another character .....

I tried it on the xbox account and it has 4 lvl 27 weapons 2 lvl 26 weapons and has recived 2 hackons + the sp ammy and 2 superb hok rings out of 80k gold ......

not bad given it doesn't even have enough armour parts to upgrade the drakescale armours yet .......

I hear using a lvl 20 gets you better drops from chests.

funny I've heard that you have to take a lvl 1 to get the best loot out of chests in nm, no idea if its true but all the chests I was forced to open contained a purple card, normally I wouldn't have used anything lower than lvl 16 for a nm run but I all I had was lvl 20's and I was told you loose too much xp with a lvl 20 in party so I promoted for the run.....

not sure how you loose xp in a co-op game where everybody gets the exact same exp at the end of the match though /

That will not cause team wide exo to drop lol. YOU will miss out on the exp but they won't if they are less that lvl 20 (for obvious reasons)

well yeah its pretty obvious that it wont lower the parties exp, it does however make the match take 50 minutes rather than 15 as one of your is perma fade watching though /

Two of my favourites.

If you play the storm dragon, the added difficulty generates more experience points.

If you kill the commander last...more enemies spawn ...

I've had people insist you get 10% bonus xp from not using the fonts, that you get an xp bonus if you don't open any doors, that you get an xp bonus if you open all the doors, that the chest had gold in it because my inventory was full and I was screwing everyone over, that the person who opened the chest door has to be the one to activate the chest in order to get purple drops, that I should stop using caltrops cause they suck... Man, what nonsense haven't I heard from pugs? Who starts these weird rumours?

As for the gold bonus on the fonts, I bought into that for a minute until my buddy and I actually tested it by counting all the gold from pots/chests/events, etc.  No bonus.

As for the experience rumors... well, there's one guy I roll with who prefers not to open doors because it's faster to get through and finish the op that way.  If you're really efficient about it, not caring about chests and things, then you do get through each one faster, so it feels like you're getting more experience more quickly over time.  I'd be willing to bet this idea got warped/misunderstood by someone/several persons until it turned into hidden XP bonuses.

If you open all the treasure doors, but don't loot the pots in them, then your drop chance for high end gear goes up.

Rumors in pugs have surrounded the AW for months regarding how he is able kick down warrior doors, after all his name is the arcane warrior, right?

that rumour about not taking the pots in treasure rooms for better loot is funny and wrong, if you get the pots in the right order in the run up to the treasure room and then in the right order inside it you  will get blue or purple items more often also you likely wont get a guardian on the chest either,

I hate when people think stupid things though like how the chests aren't worth doing because they slow you down to much, silent sister can use 2 skills and kill pretty much everything in the game on perilous and lower levels one skill/ the time taken to open a door /kill a guardian is minuscule but the exp bonus can be massive (especially if it gets paralyses/freeze's /chills /sets on fire a time or two before it dies).

some of t he rumours were created by people that have no concept of farming I think, a threatening match get between 800 and 1300 gold (depends on chest rewards and how much gold is in each pot) a perilous game gets between 1000 and 1400 gold per match (again depends on the amount in each and the chest rewards) perilous takes an average of 15 minutes per match,  threatening takes an average of 10 minutes, it takes 9 threatening matchs to promote a char, it takes 6 perilous matches to promote a char (1>20>1)  if you manage to complete it and do all the doors in every match, 9 x 10 = 90 minutes or an hour and a half, 6x15=90min, so unless you have high promotes (over 150/150/150) there's no benefit to doing peri over threatening because your matches fail way to often /

In skyrim they have +200 diamond swords.  At least that iis where I tossed all of my items I couldn't sell because the idiotic stores had a limit of what they would buy from you.

You're underestimating promotions/gear a lot.

It's easy to clear a match on Perilous in 10-12 minutes with 4x level 1 at 75/75/75. And I'm being generous...

My advice would be to play whatever difficulty where your clearing time is giving you an advantage XP and Gold wise.
