No Hakkons and the reward chest... Should I wait?

My question is thus: should I wait to open the book reward chest after earning my first Hakkon? Opinions? I've read the second Hakkon is dramatically less drop rate than the first.

Definite yes. Actually, save it until you've earned all Hakkons

However, the chest doesn't guarantee a Hakkon... still I'd wait too if I were you OP. ![]()

Wish I kept them as my first hakkon still hasn't dropped at 48 dragons in. What's the record for somebody not finding their first hakkon?
I can see my book reward sitting in the store for ages now to optimise the odds a bit.

Doesn't it? Hmm.
Assuming I surely would get a Hakkon out of this chest, I actually did a little gambling, salvaged the Hakkon Valor because it was low base damage and the chest gave me a better version of it. I did the same for the Bosun Dagger ![]()

Well be very glad that that little gamble there didn't screw you.
I am missing the bow and didn't get it from the stupid chest.

I thought I read somewhere that you can only hold one Victory Chest at a time, and that a newer one would overwrite an older one. If that's true, one should not wait to open the chest. This does not apply to commendation chests.

I've not opened mine yet, could somebody check to see whether it's a victory or commendation chest.
As for missing hakkons, I've done around 150+ dragons (lost count) since my 2nd hakkon making it around the odds of not striking a 3rd hakkon at 0.045%.
To top that, I've now done 54 dragons since I salvaged mine with no sign of the first one making it around 0.015% of that happening as well.
Either I'm cursed, unlucky or somethings not working right ever since the loot tables changed. It's frustrating because the majority of those dragon kills have been myself pugging with random players making it particularly hard work to grind (I generally start off soloing it nowadays).
I'm Sisyphus forever rolling that boulder up Ferelden Castle.

Thanks for confirming this. I'm just going to chance it and leave my chests in the store. Hopefully if it does overwrite a chest on the next weekend then it'll do it on the rubbish one as I've got two victory chests sitting in the store. It's a victory chest.

The book reward chest. It has three items in it, all have an extremely high of chance of getting very high item level.

Got my first 2 hakkons within days of the patch release - that's around 5 to 10 dragons and before the loot table changes. Then nothing since, my third just didn't drop at all so I got frustrated and salvaged them about a week or two ago.
Wish I kept them as my first hakkon still hasn't dropped at 48 dragons in. What's the record for somebody not finding their first hakkon?

I salvaged mine at game 50, 230 games later I got my first one again. 50 games after that I got the second, 20+ games later I got my third, and yesterday got my 4th. So I'm hoping to get my 1h before my 500th game... Don't want to be like snakebite lol. On the pluse side I'm only missing 4 weapon to get the crescent blade

That's pretty discouraging, the odds of not receiving your first hakkon by around dragon 101 i think is the equivalent of winning the UK lottery (old system). I'm currently at dragon 65 now.

I didn't wait and it was my best chest ever:
hakkon's honor (first hakkon yessssss)
Dancer's axe (katari has never been more fun!)
Isatunoll (amazing for the templar cause bitter axe is better than hakkon if you have low crit chance because of wombo combo explosions)
Then I managed to get the Dragon rage ring on the same day on a nm run in FC, thanks again to silversmurf for the invite, second time we play nm and I gest the DR ring, that's good
lol
Amazing. Couldn't be happier, just last week I was bitching about not getting the good stuff and now I got a lot of nice stuff.
You just have to play the waiting game

Why is PI amulet (which in my opinion is the biggest game changer item in the game) being handed out like candy these days? That amulet is far more important than those stupid lvl 27 weapons so they should not be in the same loot pool. Now relatively newer people running around with that amulet are basically playing a different game than me and I got that stupid lvl 27 bow instead (does the person designed that bow even play this game? 42 crit chance on end game gear, really?).
Good thing Fallout 4 is right around the corner so that I can finally devote myself to something fresh and better.

I pretty much agree with all of this. By talking to people I almost have the impression that half of those eligible to get the PI Amulet managed to get theirs last weekend. Now it is true that many people I know have hundreds of hours played and deserve to have that Amulet anyways, but it is pretty unfair to those who got their Brands, Rimes and Bolts instead (I am biased about Andruil's Gift, it is such a sexy weapon).

yeah... no PI amulet nor a Hakkon here (RNG is trolling me bad lately) ... got 3 lvl 27 weapons instead (Andruil's Gift was among them - so I wasn't totally disappointed because I remembered you spoke highly of it
)
