110,000 lines of dialogue? That must be exhausting for the six voice actors.
I like how one dude plays majority of all the male nords. Dat quality.
And thus this system is pointless. Because you will be able to max some SPECIAL and almost max the others thus having access to almost everything.
Oh, so sure of that?
Source, please. Because all I know (and said) was that there are ways to increase SPECIAL stats, not that you can nearly max out everything.
First you say it's too restrictive, now you say it's pointless because you can access almost everything. Could you at least decide on a stance?
Well, they've said there's no level cap, that your character depends on SPECIALs and perks (and SPECIALs can be increased by perks all the way to 10)...so...if you get a perk every level, that must mean you're able to max out everything eventually.
Hopefully the time required to max out is closer to F3 or NV and not Skyrim or Borderlands.

Perks are gated by SPECIAL and for all we know those are in limited supply. We know you start with 1 in each SPECIAL and have 21 points to allocate freely upon character creation and that Intense Training returns, but we don't know how many times you can use the latter. The rest is pure assumptions, though convention does indicate that you can count on the IT perk having five to ten ranks and that major quest rewards might increase your SPECIAL attributes too (at least I haven't heard of any official confirmation regarding SPECIAL raising perks, then again I haven't scounged the web for all FO4 info there is), plus potential collectibles.
So that'd be three maxed SPECIAL attributes and one at 5, with the other two at 1 each.
No, there's 10 for each SPECIAL. 70 in total.
You start the game with your chosen SPECIALs as perk ranks. So maybe 52 total, I suppose.

... whoopsy, actually forgot one last comment. ![]()
....What?
There are 70 ranks of Intense Training. Not ten. Seventy. Ten for each SPECIAL. Or 52 ranks, if you consider the player to be given 28 ranks of their choice when they start the game.
You can max out your SPECIALS.

Eh?
Seventy ranks for Intense Training? Let me check that video for a second.
Soo, it does indeed look like you can train each SPECIAL attribute seperately, aye. No mention on a cap on how many times you can use it. Well ... IF you can just train yourself until you maxed out all SPECIALs and there's no level cap preventing you from doing that, then that's stupid indeed.
Though I reckon the soft level cap in form of available XP is going to be the real determinator on how much you can exploit that, but that's little consolence if Mary Sue characters are still possible ...
It's not actually called 'Intense Training' anymore. It's just called 'Strength Training' or 'Charisma Training' or whatever. So I guess technically there's seven different 'Training' perks, each of which have ten tanks.
Just edited my above comment.
I really do think the soft level cap is going to be much more prevalent than I originally anticipated because I doubt it's the devs intention to have everyone walk around in godmode at the end of their playthrough.
Well, will see how it turns out.
That's almost always what happens by the end of the an RPG. You've got the best equipment, your skills are topped off. Usually that means you can cut through anything the game throws at you pretty easily. It certainly happened in F3 and NV.

And it was booooooooooooooooooooooring.
I was mostly running around in early game gear specifically to avoid insta-gibbing everything (I did have enough gear packed I could switch to in a pinch though
)
Imo games shouldn't be afraid to be tough or forcing the players to think and balance themselves against odds ... I really should start another round XCom.
And damn am I looking for XCom2. Now those are games not afraid to kick me in the balls!
Meh, so I probably won't get the joys of min-maxing builds ... but there's always the Fatman-to-the-face approach.
I wonder how many of that will be from the pretentious little **** called three Dog.
Three Dog is confirmed not to be in Fallout 4
Thats cool and all but all I really want is for FO4 to be more well... Fallout (as in 1 and 2). I liked FO3 but it was definitely Skyrim with a new skin.
Needs WIld Wasteland.
I'll probably have fun with it regardless.
However it is Bethesda. When it comes to narrative, we should need to actually get our hands on the game before saying it's disappointing that it'll probably have more narrative than a BioWare game.
Cause half their lines have a habit of being pointless filler that gets repeated every 5 minutes.
Could be worse, I guess?
I mean, the dialogue could be like that of the later Final Fantasy games, where it is all filler and the characters seem to be stuck in a time loop that causes them to restate the same lines, plot information and their own particular characters motivations every couple minutes.
Bethesda are nowhere near as bad as Square-Enix when it comes to this.

It's Bethesda. Name me any of their recent games where you can not be a god because they can't balance anything.
While you CAN get OP NV, that only starts to happen with the dlc because of the new perks, weapons and implants. It's a far cry from FO3 where you can max all your stats with little to no effort along with getting a perk every level, stuff like the grim reaper perk or the fact there is a perk that makes all your SPECIAL 9, which by then getting the bobbleheads, you can have max SPECIALS. This is a common issue with Bethesda games at their core.

Which is why I was thrilled when I thought it wouldn't be the case here, albeit that hope has been taken down a few notches now ...
And yet in Oblivion and Skyrim I never use a different character because there is no point as they all play the same. Class system, builds all of that make characters all different. If you don't like it then you're playing the wrong genre.
That's on you. Open world games
It's a Bethesda thing. New Vegas isn't like that. Old FO or Arcanum wasn't.
I'll still play this though. ![]()
Oh I'm still getting FO4 because it does look fun. It just has alot of questionable design choices along with the fear that like FO3, my preferred build will not be fun or viable like in the other three games.

One does not get Bethesda games for the game. One gets Bethesda games to play the games the modders design for that world ![]()
