Upon reading Snakebites little argument about a rumor in a game it made me want to see what others are. I have had plenty of good ones. I think my favorite was some guy trying to tell me Lego was horrible and that TTD was a horrible ability, especially for Lego. We went back and forth the entire match, in the lobby I ended up having more kills than him. Also never died unlike him but that is besides the point, he was Katari. Needless to say, he didn't stick around ;)
Let's hear some of yours!

I like arguments, probably because I tend to win them.

Here are some I recall

Drasca/Cirvante: Immolate sucks, Fire Mine rules

Turns out they just can't aim fast enough

Drasca: Firestorm is good but Static Cage stinks

Several: Longshot is the defining Archer skill (post nerf discussion)

Proto/Bruh: Fade Cloak/ Fade Step is a great way to deal dmg with the necro

Fade Cloak struggles to deal as much dmg as Shield Bash

Fade Step is competing with Payback Strike, Flashfire and a single Elemental Mines

Cirvante: Counterstrike is for noobs

Cirvante ends up loving Counterstrike

Drasca and several others deny War Horn is worth a skill slot

Drasca and everybody else uses War Horn on Nightmare mode.

Drasca: Firestorm is the best move on the ele and Wall of Fire sucks

Learnedhand insist Full Draw is the best way to deal dmg with the hunter

Learnedhmand gets incessantly interrupted when using Full Draw then dies

Learnedhand has yet to admit this

Pork incessantly denies that Yallegro knows anything

Pork gets banned

Yarpenthemad states that Lightning Bolt + Immolate has better synergy than Stonefist and Immolate

it doesn't

Drasca: That said, some of your builds are terrible

Has yet to make sense

BSN: Yallegro is a narcissistic jerk

Yallegro turns out to be a fairly nice guy

Most of these drasca quotes sound about right; however I have never heard him say static cage stinks. Quite the opposite. He's the one who got me started on beelining for static cage.. so credit where it's due.

Had some guy insist that the Saarebas' electric Glyph of Aqun was superior to the fire Glyph for a melee-build Duelist with Bloody Bargain equipped because it would help him get more crits and faster kills. I gave up trying to explain it. In hindsight, this was not a fun argument...

Oh GTFO, Static Cage does tons of dmg and you get strong long lasting barriers.

ROFL 'tons of damage' rofl. Yep, this is why you're in the minor leagues.

Firestorm does 85% mage dmg

Static Cage

  • 1H Warrior: 37.5%
  • 2H Warrior: 32.5%
  • Dagger Rogue: 37.5%
  • Bow Rogue: 37.5%
  • Staff Mage: 50%
  • Spirit Blade Mage: 50%

Per hit, combines with AoE

And Static Cage has superior crowd control

That you would promote Firestorm and dish on Static Cage is just downright stupid

I believe I had to replace my post because the original one contained strong language.

Why bother comparing skills from two different characters? Who cares if Fade Cloak does equal damage to Shield Bash when no-one ever had to choose between them? Likewise for Firestorm and Static Cage. Apples and oranges are both delicious fruits, but I don't pause to consider Granny Smiths when I'm preparing to make fresh OJ.

Getting a message after a guy is knocked out telling me that my Elementalist should be using barrier on people, despite me not even having the barrier skill equipped, I watched him bleed out.

Drasca: That said, some of your builds are terrible

That's because they are. LOL, yep you've so obviously blundered everything because, I'm the most pro-war horn / Static cage guy / firewall there is-- especially when looking at my builds. Longshot's changed so many times so the arguement must fit within the context.

Immolate still sucks. FM DOES rule.

LOL I've kicked eles from my party for not having Firewall and insisting on using noobolate that does trivial damage. The only time immolate gets good is when you're a mage using a maul, and that's when even basic attack is good at 2k per hit.

Face it, you've lost the thunderdumb every time.

Was playing with someone from the leaderboards.  I'd joined a match earlier where this person had been down and faded.  Wave 5 down and faded again.  We wiped.  Bad taste so I start a new lobby; also, patience isn't my strong suit.  I'm happily playing along solo as my archer.  Same person joins, same character -- but it's not Darkspawn, so they're doing great.  Really rockin' their keeper.  A Katari joins so we have a threesome.  In Zone 5, LB'er gets on the mic and asks if we're appreciating the barrier.  I assure him that we do.  It is the best damn barriering I've ever seen.  We get to the score screen and LB'er starts talking about how he's top scorer and he beat us all.  Fire up another round:  katari, me, keeper and a fourth joins. I learn much about his build and want to try it.   We get the veilfire initiative on Wave 2 of Tevinter.  We run the fire to the kindling and kill everything off.  Three of us circle back for the door, Katari hangs behind.  I comment how I hate getting doors on the veilfire initiative because it just feels so damn stupid.  LB agrees.  We kill the guardian and collect the chest.  Katari doesn't port us but stays where he is.  LB'er starts going off on this guy about making us walk all the way back.  Then, and this was precious, he says: "oh, wait, he's sending me a message.  . . . . He called me a dick!  Said he was lagging.  No more barrier for you!"  I make conciliatory noises.  No reason to get so upset, after all, is there?  We finish the whole round.  Katari, unsurprisingly, leaves the match.  LB'er talks about "beating us all."  I say that there's no need to engage in the philosophical argument that there's no beating in a co-op game.   He says something to the effect of "he called me a dick; well, maybe I was . . . " and I say "well, a little harsh perhaps . . . ." and then offered my apologies I had to log off to get ready for work.  Now, all that said, I've played with LB'er before (silently) and always liked them.  Good, solid player.  And, I don't really think they're a douche canoe but I thought the whole exchange was mildly amusing and emblematic of two people who had not yet had enough coffee.  I certainly hadn't!

Ya well they choose between characters right?

Not going to have many necro players if the dmg is **** like that.

If you can't damage then you should do what she can do: Crowd Control

Hell they put crits on her best dots...

To be honest there is no good excuse to not take Barrier

I found that I enjoy the match more when someone in the game was talking.   One time there was this guy who sang off key songs the entire match.   My wfe had to come over to see why I was laughing.   It was so bad but so good.  The thing is that you can tell he really enjoys singing and that's what it matters. :P

And then there is that one time.. the guy was so drunk.   It was so funny to hear the stories he was telling.   And then there was this one person who came in to the match and asked if anyone else has a mic.  When no one responded in 10 seconds, she just left the game.

Rofl. I don't pretend to be interested, I just let them talk and tune them out until something important comes up. Often they don't care / pay attention to how much I'm actually paying attention.

Totally this! So much more fun when people talk / sing / tell stories. Its MP! Interact with each other... or leave and find another game where people do.

Had a fellow in a game last night that was the only mic user, he joined around wave 4.  He started off chatting a bit, telling the warrior to get the warrior door etc.  The match ended and he was enjoying the last of his slurpee and was really giving it the old straw sucking out the last bit of liquid as loud as he could into the mic.  Suddenly there was a loud GACK! Followed by lots of coughing as he must have sucked some fluid down the old windpipe rather than the esophagus.  I gave thanks to slurpee gods.

One reason I don't use the mic is that I don't want to start an argument.  One time I told a warrior that he missed a door.   I didn't think he heard me because he just kept going in deeper to the zone, so I said it again 30 seconds later.  He replied "I heard you the first time" kind of grumpyly.   Since then I have not said anything about anyone missing any door.

But I always want to ask/tell the people in game these things:

1) Why are you running pass the doors.  Especially the free ones.  The enemies will come to you anyway, why do you want to back track later?

2) It is a free door, you don't need to buddy system me... but thanks for the thought.

3) Give me the freaking torch!  You are killing us with your headless running around!

4) I am sorry, I know you have been hacking on this guy for 20 seconds, but I am here so I am just going to kill him okay.. no hard feeling.

5) Sorry, I can't rez you again.  I am only alive because I kept hitting things to keep my barrier active.

6) You SOB!  I have been working on him for 20 seconds! (This is me on the other side of number 4 above)

7) Why are you thanking the keeper for the awesome barrier?  She has been static caging and casting chain lightning.  The awesome Saarebas had been keeping you alive!

8) Why do you have a level 20 Avvar and not promote?  And why doesn't he have LW?

9) Why do you have a level 20 Virtuoso and not promote?  And why is he using hot licks?

10) I am not trying to teabag you.  I just can't see my mouse pointer and there is lag... honest. :P

No worries, you wouldn't get to finish your attack animation around me, let alone 2 seconds of attack. Just go ahead and finish off the enemy I left at 1% health for you as I run by and melt everything else.
