It's mediocre at best, nothing special about it.
Works ok on Gold but then again what dosen't.
The Collector Rifle is for me and some other dudes/grills.

It's a weird gun without any real niche ; it's too heavy for casters and doesn't bring enough punch for weapons focused characters. An illustrating example is the ACA : the CAR is outperformed by the CSMG on the adept build, and by the PPR on the soldier build.
It has a very low recoil, so headshots are easy with it, that's already something. I think it should have weighted like the Lancer to have some interest. I use the CAR mainly when I'm grinding the AR challenge, usually on the turian sentinel (an hybrid weapons / powers character, not surprisingly).
This is 100% the truth about the CAR. Bioware f'ed up with this gun. Casters would benefit more from using a Mattock or Phaeston (or maybe even a GPR or Avenger). Weapons classes can make better use of 100 other, better guns. The only use I have ever found for this gun is on the ACA when you have no CSMG or a very low-level CSMG (I had the CSMG II until very recently).

The A and S are next to each other on a lot of keyboards, so CSR and CAR are often typoed for each other.
