Life is strange is a turd
Why is it? Gives us some reasons rather than just writing like a hormonal teenager.
Life is strange is a turd
The endings were awful and lazy. because i knew that was the case in ep1. they didnt even care enough to change things up. just because you get two girls kissing doesn't make the ending for LIS good. look past that kiss, and you'll see laziness and a disappointing finale.
I was expecting our choices to matter in both endings, but neither ending actually incorporates our choices.
The reason I like the endings themselves is that they both feel satisfying to pick even considering what I just typed.
Life is Strange's ending was pretty disappointing, so hopefully Bioware won't take lessons from that.
But it did do choice and consequences rather well (again, except for the end). It also showed some pretty complex characters. Very few were truly flawless or truly horrific. Heck even Nathan could draw a (tiny bit) of sympathy from me.
I think the lack of impact of your choices in one ending was the point of the ending. So to complain about it seems odd.
Agree to disagree here then.
For the other ending all your choices still stand.
Technically yes, but not in a way that actually contributes to that ending.

It was actually in both endings since
So yeah, here's hoping Bioware doesn't decide to follow that route. Especially if we're going a "save the colony/planet/star cluster/galaxy/all of reality" route.

FIngerguns are awesome!
The game feels it was written by a hormonal teenagers.
No, it was made FOR hormonal teenagers, hence the terrible cringy dialogue that sounds like a parody of mean girls or something. Blech!

Also, everybody is hot when they have a bowler hat.
Except for Fiona. She's hot when she's not wearing her hat as well.

What was wrong with the finale to Tales, exactly?

Pretty much all of it. But the biggest points are
- Predictable, lameass railroading of the Handsome Jack choice. Even ignoring the railroading, the way they handled his subplot was just ****
- The questionable use of bringing Handsome Jack back only to kill him again before he does anything
- Characters feeling like exaggerated versions of themselves at times, Sasha at her "death scene" being the biggest offender
- Having what feels like the last third of the episode spend fighting a giant monster, completely missing what makes TFTBL great
- Reducing the two protagonists to tagalongs in Loaderbot's quest to bring back Gortys
I personally put TFTBL Episode 5 up there with ME3s ending in terms of artistic incompetence.

I'm not sure what was 'awful' about them - th et certainly provided closure in a way me3 never did.
I'm not sure what people were expecting - the endings were pretry signposted throughout - it's not like they introduced a brand new character in the final scene is it.
No, but the lack of explanation was pretty disapointing, and for me it was the opposite of closure which neither ending seems to do. Add in that LiS seems to be pointing at one ending being correct while the other is half as long and the game makes very clear on many levels that it is illogical. So they have more 1 and a half endings.
And once again the ending were, erase the game so you never played or destroy any effect you had on the world. About the only choice you did that had an effect was saving the homeless woman, every other choice was completely meaningless. Even the villain basically came to nothing when faced with that choice.
In fact it leaves you with such an extreme choice that the ME3 equivelent might be: Saccrifice Earth for Galaxy or galaxy for Earth. All humans die (including Shepard) or all aliens (including all ship members) it didn't take anything else in and there lacked any nuance. I expected Chloe or Max or both to die, along with many other Arcadia Bay people I just didn't expect it to be done so hamfistedly.
I'm curious myself. Now that it's complete I was going to start playing it, but I see nothing but positive reviews for it.
Tales from the Borderlands was incredible, goofy fun. And this is coming from someone who despised ME3 and is meh about Borderlands itself.

That life is only what we chose to make it. So let's just take it. Let us be free.
Tales from the Borderlands was great. The ending was exactly what it should have been as well.
Nothing.
