STORE MYTHOLOGY

So, for all of us UR hunters who have everything else unlocked/maxed, for each slot that can contain a UR we get the experience equivalent to this: dipping your hands into a jar that has 1000 peanut M&Ms, 75 green (a UR card) and 925 brown (not...). In a SP you get to pick one M&M; for PSPs/APs/etc you get to dip your hand in twice. There are always 1000 in the jar, which is to say that your chances do not improve with repeated purchases or across multiple cards in a pack.
Now, being human beings engaged in gambling against the house, we are prone to anthropomorphic fancies. Like all degenerates before us we are desperate to find a plan/design/invisible-hand at work in the chaos of the store's statistics. I was recently reminded of one of the first of these stories that I heard in my first weeks of playing this game...
One of the dudes who originally raised me from Bronzes/Silvers to the higher levels assured me that I should save my money until we returned to the lobby after extracting on Platinum because he honestly believed that visiting the store after a successful platinum game increased your chances of receiving the good stuff.
So, anyone else ever hear any store-related-tall-tales? Any fascinating beliefs about the RNG Gods?

Equipping the gun you want to rank up on your current character and going to store.
Alternating between Spectre packs and Premium Spectre packs.
These are a few that I can remember randomly hearing in PUGs or from friends back in 2012.

For a while, I was afraid to play with Akire. It seemed like she got all my UR's. I wouldn't go to the store until I had laundered my credits by playing some PuGs. It seemed to work pretty well. Of course, that made me feel dirty (and not in the good way), because I knew it was just an impassive RNG...but it gave her my UR's, dammit!
My friend ddawg74 claims to, similarly, be good luck for others who visit the store in his company...

Candyman...
Candyman...
Candyman.
Gently caressing the ethernet port (whilst wearing your shirt unbuttoned backwards) also works.

I totally belief that. In fact , if wear my shirt with the buttons at then back , and the shoelaces around my ankles I get one additional UR on top.

Um...
So you're saying that took you an hour and 25 minutes to type?!!!
You must be using the patented Jack Crapper Nipples method. I applaud your determination.
Now all you need is an Instagram account...

I hear playing with crashsuit will help you get the urs faster.
OK, but this one's actually true...

I know that logically it shouldn't make a difference, but I think 'I'm going to buy packs anyway, so why not wait a little longer till requirements that might help are met' so here are my prerequisites.
Save up a load of monies,
Get galactic readiness above 90%(note at 90 it changes from red to blue, whereas anywhere below 90 it fades from dark red to light red)
Then promote all characters,
Play a match and extract,
Buy 3 reserves packs,
If you get an UR, buy another 3,
Repeat process from play a match again, until characters are lvl18, then stop buying until you promote.
It works for me, and I regularly buy 9 packs with 4 URs, 3 times this month in fact. And I've nearly maxed my manifest.
Obviously I have no solid evidence to say that this makes any difference and I can't prove that if I didn't do this, I wouldn't have got the URs anyway.
But I believe that out of all of my prerequisites, that promoting makes the most difference, I used to never promote ever, and could go months at a time without an UR. Which makes me wonder if it's to do with the character experience cards.
But science says no!

I've read a couple empirical analyses suggesting that reserve packs yield the highest UR drop rate in practice. Here's one of them: http://www.girlplays...-pack-analysis/
Obviously, reserve packs only become more likely to drop UR weapons once your UR character cards are maxed. I somewhat believe these claims to be true, and hence, only buy reserve packs / jumbo packs on my PS3 manifest where all my character cards are maxed.
Without looking at code execution in a debugger, it is impossible to say whether or not this claim holds water. But in my experience with the RNG store, it definitely felt like UR character cards dropped more often than UR weapons (and if this could proven true statistically, then reserve packs would be the logical choice as they prefer character drops).
*edit: here's the other UR drop rate analysis: http://forum.bioware...ing-dlc-update/

Umm... I'm pretty sure that's how you get std's. Just use protection.
