Why Mythal affiliates possess golden eyes?
Abelas, the sentinels ( i'm not sure if the sentinels had it),Flemeth and her daughters.

Mythal/ Flemeth and Morrigan are both shape shifters, mages that can take the form of animals, hence gold, animalistic eyes.

Actually, there's a large number of mages with golden eyes - though not all.  I assumed it was associated with magic.

EDIT: his eyes are less glowy than Morrigan's and Flemth's, but I can count Anders too, as well as most minor mages in Origins and DA2.  It really seems to be Inquisition that dispensed with the whole yellow-eyed mage thing.

Golden eyes denoting a connection to the supernatural is a common trope.

Don't open spoiler unless you are willing to learn more than you perhaps want to know of Flemeth and her kin...

And yet Kieran does not have yellow eyes.

I think that's just a trait that is unique to Flemythal and her daughters, a kind of differentiating characteristic used by the designers.
