Spoken like someone who truly has no idea how statistics works. "Hey I was losing money at the slots, so I started going back and forth between different machines and I won some money, so that must be the hidden trick!" The big statistics thread on the me3mp forum, AND the drop rate numbers in the game files themselves, say that all rare slots have a 7.5 percent ultra rare drop rate. You can stand on your head and say the alphabet backward while rubbing your necklace of rabbit feet but it won't make a difference.

To be fair, the stats project didn't try different buying algorithms, just tallied how often packs bought any which way dropped URs. If he uses his method on 1000 packs and gets a 14% drop rate then he might  be on to something. But without actual data on what he gets using his buying algorithm we don't know whether his hypothesis is supported. Anyway, even if it's placebo effect, what's the harm? I liked the buy vet packs + SP's method, which I used for my last 50 or so URs. It likely was suboptimal, but I felt better because while I used it I was getting 1-2 UR per day. But since I didn't keep any data I can't say what the drop rate actually was.

EDIT: Sorry missed the part about the game files.

I may be acting extra salty, but the harm is that he's trying to convince people that superstition equals statistical facts.

So we're all in agreement? DAMP was awful.

I know some people liked it, and I wouldn't exactly call it 'awful'... but yeah, it wasn't a whole lot of fun, unfortunately. For me, though, it had less to do with how you acquired gear/characters and more with the gameplay itself.

@7twoZero I'm not asking you to trust me, i'm asking anyone who is still actively trying to finish off their manifest to verify this method for themselves and see if it improves their yields as you have absolutely nothing to lose in doing so. You'd think I was asking for his credit card details.

For what it's worth I've spent 2 million credits x3 times in the last month and have consistently achieved at least 5 UR drops (1:4) each time which is a significant improvement from my usual +/- 3 (1:6.6) when I stick to a single pack type. If this is verifiable by more than one person then it would be pretty useful info to know if ME:A uses the same rand() algorithm and card unlock system.

I'm curious if the people who maxed their manifest in under 700 hours used a broader pack opening strategy than people who have put in considerably more hours and still haven't.

I quit MP because I wasn't getting any new characters. But it was cool keep the random packs it was like collecting Yu.GI.Oh or Pokemon cards again for me anyway.
When I finally got the Krogan Warlord so happy.
More characters this time less humans please and Playable Hanar.

I believe the UR drop rate is hard coded and gives you exactly the same probability of giving an UR card regardless of which pack you buy and in which order. There are lots of subjectively biased opinions around that certain buying "strategies" provides better chances at giving UR cards, but they don't as all 99k packs have the same exact statistical probability.

I maxed my manifest in 694 hours, basically from only buying AR packs for my 99k pack which kind of disproved the different "strategies" flying around, and I did not save up X amount of credits to go on a spending spree as that in no way increases the chances either. It's the nature of RNG, people see and want to believe in things that just aren't there.

I would say that Dragon Age: Inquisition's multiplayer was awful in comparison to Mass Effect 3's multiplayer.  It felt like they scrapped the majority of what they created with Mass Effect 3 and just left the random crates in and created everything else new.  There were a couple of good ideas such as not having it integrated into single player and instead of failure with the secondary missions you just lost your reward.  The two biggest failures of Dragon Age: Inquisition's multiplayer was the double RNG on loot and if a person dies three times the enemies get stronger.  The latter I know chased people away before they played more then a couple of matches.
