I thought I'd share my personal headcanon (for all three games, and a little beyond) and wanted to also ask for yours, I'm curious to see what stories people have come up with.
So I'll start with mine. My personal favorite has been when my friend and I wanted to have a bit of fun and try to do a joint canon, which ended up being really great actually, especially as a story. Which I'm working on. So here it goes.
Origins
The Human Noble origin. The same except instead of Fergus it's Aedan as the elder brother and Cassius is the younger. When Aedan is sent to Ostagar ahead he and a few others become Grey Wardens through the Rite of Conscription by a group of high ranking nervous Warden while Duncan is away. He is then sent on his scouting mission by the King (who has no idea this Joining has taken place) and a few days later Cassius arrives just like the game.
Cassius goes through the story as normal and after Lothering aids the Circle of Magi. While that happens Aedan has escaped the Chasid and though injured makes his way to Lothering and starts to peruse the remaining Grey Wardens he's heard about. When they finally meet up much to his surprise it's his younger brother. And so they travel together from there going through the campaign.
Aedan ends up in a romance with Morrigan quite late in the story while Cassius has a very sweet one with Leliana. Aedan in the end accepts the Dark Ritual as he knows full well if Cassius gets the chance he'll strike the blow and he has to protect his younger brother even if he doesn't really want to meddle in this magic.
So as the elder brother and the protector Aedan is dubbed as "The Shield of Fereldan" and takes his father's place as Teyrn and Constable of the Grey for a time before leaving with Morrigan to raise Kieran. And Cassius as the slayer of the Archdemon and leader of the group he becomes "The Hero and Sword of Fereldan" as well as the Commander of the Grey.
Origins is the only one we changed the story a bit, the other two games we divided between us. So he got Dragon Age 2 and I got Inquisition.
DA2
I sadly don't remember much of this one off the top of my head, it's been awhile and he's going to replay it for this canon. I do know we have Fem!Hawke with Merrill. Hawke is a blood mage seeing it as a valuable tool and sarcastic beyond belief. When war broke out she took the side of the Mages, but couldn't let Anders walk away for what he had done.
Inquisition
Siani Lavellan, a Dalish mage and First to her keeper. Shy and unsure at first with a strong moral principle and keen interest in the Fade. She sides with the mages at Redcliffe, keeps Celene on the throne in the name of peace, let's the Grey Wardens stay, and drinks from the Well of Sorrows so if something does go wrong Morrigan can return to her son. She still loves Solas despite the heartache and after the end she goes looking for him when she can.
Two years later she's a much stronger leader, but frustrated with the nobles squabbling while there's a job to be done. In the end she disbands the Inquisition so they can focus their efforts on finding Solas to hopefully change his mind.
After
Since these details are unknown my personal canon is that once the Warden Brothers return from their quest Divine Leliana points them to the Inquisition Underground and they join Siani in her quest to stop Solas from destroying the world as they know it.
