Okay, I just installed the GoG version of BG1. I reinstalled all the components from the Tweak Pack that I'd had on the DVD version of the game; I checked up on a saved game, and it worked just fine, it was running great at full-screen, albeit warped by my widescreen laptop.

So I installed the widescreen mod. Then when I started up the game... well, for starters, all the intro movies and the main menu were a tiny image in the upper-left corner of the screen. I loaded a saved game, and for a second it looked like it would actually fill the entire screen, but then the game crashed.

And, of course, the widescreen mod alters all save files. How do I fix this? I need to salvage those save files! Could it be as easy as choosing a different resolution? Does BG1 not work at 1440x900?

EDIT: Okay, I've tried a couple of resolutions that both work... but they still squish everything all up to one side of the screen, and the whole screen changes when I switch between gameplay and any of the other screens. How do I get everything centered and consistent?

EDIT: I've been looking into it and apparently that's just an unfortunate side effect of how the mod works. The menu areas get smaller. Okay... but is there any way to get the movies out of the corner?

Installing a mod over a saved game changes the files and is asking for issues… the correct time to install any mod is at the game start only.

Gog bg1 runs just fine on my 1366 X 768 laptop without needing a mod made for older game versions so I wouldn't know but it sounds like you re-installed direct X and that’s buggered it.

Off topic; If you decide to try tutu make sure to get the current version as he went to considerable trouble to ensure it's compatibility with both gog and modern systems.
