Same as you kill any other giant, except get lots of cold resistance.

You should be fine outside of the one-shot boulders (I've never checked to see if aegis reflects that attack; it would be the greatest thing in the world if it did). It's mostly just managing health and mitigation; don't forget your focus abilities, and try to keep the party attacking the same leg (after enough damage, the giant will stagger and fall down for a time).

Hail Of Arrows or Thousand Cuts is the easiest way.

If you're not one for using Focus abilities then the combination of Mark Of Death + Static Cage + Horn Of Valour followed by my Assassin and Sera (Flask Of Lightning and a Master Fire Rune helped big time) throwing everything at it worked for me.

Antivan Fire + Fire Mine/Searing Glyph. You know he's going for that darn boulder, so put a glyph right in front of it.

And devSin is right, lots of cold resistance helps, which you need for all of JoH anyway. Worth the gear investment.

Re spec any mage you have and make it a inferno mage. With the new inferno pact belt fire skills do as much or even more damage than rogues.

All you need is fire. Or a fire plasmid :P

And thank the lucky stars you don't have to fight him in Boulder, Colorado.

Kill it with fire.

If it makes you feel better the first time I ran into that jerk I was under-leveled for him, playing on nightmare with my KE who was specced into electricity.  I had Dorian, Varric and Iron Bull with me and no cold resistance anything on anyone.  Eventually I managed to kill it with Varric hanging on by a thread and Dorian with his 1% heal on hit staff keeping himself alive long enough to revive everyone.  But, it was ugly.  Really, really ugly. Since Dorian is my fire guy he did most of the damage on it. Kaitlyn kept taking boulders to the face.  And Bull, well, he died a lot.

KE: spam fire mine

Tempest: Flask of Fire then spam throwing blades to stack your damage to infinity. It should be dead well before your fire flask expires.

To be honest all the boss fights are becoming a joke ever since I started to appreciate the throwing blade upgrade...

...oh man, for some reason combining "this bonus stacks" with flask of fire never crossed my mind. I guess I assumed the bonus only applied within one use of Throwing Blades. How long does each stack last?

I killed the thing at level 12 with my mage. I used fire mine and immolate. I stayed at range. Every time it turned around to face me, I would hide behind one of the big rocks. Once it turned the other way I would attack. My 3 companions were talking to the dirt while I killed the giant singlehandedly

Varric and just spam longshot and leaping shot. Throws a boulder at you.. no problem. Long shot / leaping shot out of the way.

It appears that every throwing blade hit would refresh this duration ,(so it lasts indefinitely until you stop or if you hit other enemies with throwing blades) and would persist for several seconds after you stop using throwing blades. In that duration the damage buff seem to apply to some of the other skills as well.

Alternately, all mage, No Winter mage, respect Solas for this one if need be. All fire except Viv on electricity. You KE/Inferno. Stay ant rage, have Viv keep barrier up, use KE revive skill when needed. (should be rare if at all.) that thing is fire weak and with static cage and, MoR, no sweat.

The monster hunting maxim that I learned from the Witcher, when in doubt, kill it with Igni (fire). Also use cold resistant gear.
