I just got the machine gun mentioned in the title, and I have a question... is it just me, or is this thing nearly useless? The recoil is absolutely obscene and the accuracy is horrendous. Is there some way I can make the accuracy not horrible, or should I just reload and take the sniper rifle instead?

Hmm, I would suggest weapon upgrades which might help it out a bit. It is more for a spraying bullets into a mass of enemies with a ton of ammo, so you have to kind of shoot it in bursts. Try different techniques is my only suggestion.

if you only fire in short bursts and change from shooting at long range to short and medium range the gun is amazing. it's sad though that you can't get headshots very easily, but it makes up for it when you come to a boss/mini boss.

Well, when I tried it on the Collectors a bit after I got it it was flying around after 2 shots, so I don't know how much bursts will help me... I'm not really a spray and pray kind of player, so I guess I'll just reload and stick with my Vindicator and grab the new sniper rifle instead.

It's really all up to you. Hope you pick what you enjoy the most though

I do remember that there was an upgrade I could get to increase assault rifle accuracy, does anyone know how much of a difference it makes?

It helps a decent amount. You have to adjust your playstyle with the HMG though. It took me a bit but man oh man I love that gun. You just need to really apply your concussive shots/adrenaline rushes to let you get in good position, but once you are within kill zone range, the accuracy problem is NOT an issue. So much death and mayhem.
The IFF part for example with the tons of husks and scions - I'd change to inferno rounds, pull the team back, CC them with concussive blast and then just literally shred them. Storm to cover near the Scions, pop in AP rounds and then drop the Scion before it generally got to fire one blast with Adrenaline Rush.
God I love it. It's useless at range though unless you carefully fire short bursts. It's just such a hot weapon I barely use anything else, though I'm very impressed by the Collector AR too.

I gave it a second chance and frankly, I'm pretty glad I did. Now that I'm not trying to treat it like the Vindicator, it's kicking a lot of ass. I'm not sure if I'd have made it off that ship without it.

Where did you get the machine gun?

Fire it in bursts into you get the accuracy upgrade. Once you get that it's accuracy becomes comparable to any other assualt rifle...which means you can start ripping people and groups of enemies to shreds with the thing. I take down Scions and Harbringers in seconds with this thing.

You get it onboard the first derelict ship you board. It's a story mission.

It's really powerful in my opinion for collectors missions b\\c of its raw power. For anything else, the battle rifle seems much better b\\c of its accuracy.

I use it everywhere. With Hardened AR, Concussive Blast and Inferno Rounds/AP rounds, it's just my absolute favorite weapon. Pop AR, step from cover at med/short range and just let it rip. Even on hardcore right now w/o a single upgrade it's just so much damn fun, though holy crap I go through so much more clips on these enemies ;_;

The gun Is damn strong, especially against big boss monsters, with the accuracy upgrades I had no trouble using it from a decent range either (although head shots won't happen so often).
I wonder if I made the right choice though, I picked the AR instead of the sniper rifle, although I already had the collector AR, maybe I was better off picking the SR as the collector rifle is powerful as well and I enjoy picking of targets from range ... :S

Use it against big targets and you can spray as madly as you like. For small targets, like enemy mercs and such, you'll need to fire in burts. Use Warden Kuril as an example. Sure, he was a pretty pathetic boss fight, but he knew how to handle a machine gun.

This weapon is probably the best in the game. Huge clip so you can fire for a long time before reloading, devastating damage, especially in close combat but also accurate enough to kill distant enemies.

Did I miss a lot over it? Somehow I was blind enough to pick the Widow over it on my solider. I am kunda stuck with the Vindicator now, even if its a headshot machine on steroids(if you have the rifle accuracy).

It's best to treat it like a meaner shotgun if you're lacking assault rifle upgrades.

Once you get the accuracy upgrades for assault rifles its pretty good. Don't get me wrong its still inaccurate but with 80 bullet magz, and over 600 capacity its good to have around, if you wanna fill some collector MoFo's with FTL lead.

The machine gun is lousy for accuracy, especially at long distance and if you keep the trigger down. But fire in bursts and use it at close to medium range, and you'll chew up enemies really fast. Tons of ammo, especially with the ammo boosting guantlets.

I use it in bursts, and it's much more powerful than the Vindicator and the stock rifle.

I thought it was nice against husks, although I do prefer the Vindicator's accuracy.

Fire one-shot bursts.

The Revenant is full of rape, death, and mayhem. No, it's not as accurate as the other AR's. However, it fires as fast, maybe faster, than the Avenger, and just as much damage, if not more, than the Vindicator. After you get the accuracy upgrade, you can use it at long/medium range in quick two shot bursts... but that's not the point of the LMG. I run forward, get in close, and let the lead fly. Everything in my line of fire gets turned into a fine bloody mist.
