Even with the accuracy upgrade you should still fire the revenant in bursts while fighting at medium range. Full auto is for destroying everything at close range or for flaying large targets. Worked better than the particle beam for the final boss.
Point is, revenant is not a long range gun. That's more for sniper rifles, pistols, and the vindicator.
Good thing a soldier can carry sniper rifles and pistols...

Did I miss a lot over it? Somehow I was blind enough to pick the Widow over it on my solider. I am kunda stuck with the Vindicator now, even if its a headshot machine on steroids(if you have the rifle accuracy).
Meh. I picked the Widow as well, and I don't regret it. I've messed around with the Revenant a little bit, and while it is quite powerful at short range, just doesn't fit my playstyle. I like the Vindicator for its accuracy. My Shep's a precision kind of guy, and range is awfully useful on Insanity.

I use it just fine it about not using it like a freaking water house Burst fire the thing to help keep accuracy up and upgrade your AR all the way the sucker becomes a beast.

It's the best AR in the game, l2shoot better.
But seriously, fire in bursts.

The selling point for me was the insane clip size and the amazing ammo capacity and the huge amount of ammo restored per clip.

What!?
Reverent Machine Gun is the best gun for my vanguard Shepard with Inferno Ammo and all upgrades.

It is definitely a monster. That beast with warp ammo even on insanity would take harbinger down as quick as that pyjak I punched on Tuchanka

I usually aim at the chest of an enemy and hold a burst so that the recoil drags the aim to the head. With the hits to the body and the head , a couple of bursts is usually enough to drop an unprotected enemy except maybe Krogans. You can get away with a single burst on lower difficulty settings. With Adrenalin Rush it's possible to get head shots with a short burst at the head most of the time at shot to mid range. All these are with the aim feature which is initiated by holding the right mouse button by default, not sure what aim is on the 360.

The accuracy issue can be resolved pretty easily by giving the gun a second to 'settle' on the target before you start shooting, when you hit RMB to aim. Combined with adrenaline rush and suitable ammo it's a monster, could take down 2-3 heavy geth on hardcore level at point blank before they'd even drop my shield or completely destroy a single shielded/armoured opponent before they'd manage to fire single shot (quite useful when you get caught at sliver of health behind cover)
And it practically never runs out of ammo.

I always make sure to get AP Accuracy before triggering the Collector Ship mission.Serogon wrote...
I gave it a second chance and frankly, I'm pretty glad I did. Now that I'm not trying to treat it like the Vindicator, it's kicking a lot of ass. I'm not sure if I'd have made it off that ship without it.
At long-range, use a sniper rifle.
At mid-range, fire 3-5 shot bursts and it almost works like the Vindicator.
At short-range, you can go full auto against a charging Harbinger/Krogan, a boss like the Oculus/Reaper, or a group of Husks/Abominations.
With Armor-Piercing or Warp Ammo, this thing is the best normal weapon in the game. You hardly run out of ammo, too.

The thing is a machine gun, not a battle rifle.
Besides, if you're having trouble with accuracy, then you're too far away from the real action, ya poodle walking pencil pusher!

After I first got the machine gun I hated the thing, thought it was rubbish. However, when I imported my character for a second play through and actually learned how to use the damn thing I found it to be an excellent weapon. Short bursts are the key, when you master the short burst it is as accurate as any assault rifle, I've gotten plenty of medium/long distance head shots with that gun, it just takes practice. At short range, there is no better gun in the game.

Best assault rifle in the game, through it can be a bit hard to use without the accuracy upgrade. It's no where near as good at long range as the other AR's, but it's the best at medium and short range.
Just switch to the sniper rifle if you need to snipe.

This gun is spray and pray. And if you haven't fully upgraded AR accuracy, its range is as short as a shotgun. If you get the upgrade though, it becomes viable for mid range as well. The vindicator though is far better.

The Revenant is AWESOME. Plain and simple. At first I too was depressed that it had trouble hitting the broad side of a barn from a distance... I thought I had picked up a stormtrooper rifle by mistake... but seriously, with upgrades, short bursts, and generous use of adrenaline rush and aiming, this thing does the most damage per shot and has the largest clip size of any hard hitter that doesn't need 'power cells' to load.... and if and when something gets in close (a krogan or a husk) just point down at the legs or chest and hold the fire button down... just like a real machine gun (the Thompson SMG is horribly noted for this) the weapon will 'trace' shots up the enemy's body to the head... usually killing whatever it is on your way there, and still leaving enough ammo to turn and face another target. My Infiltrator swears by his widow... but my soldier only uses the Revenant anymore. Ever.
