First off, while this is about weapons, it is not about the stats and combat benefits of the weapons, so the combat forum does not work that much.

 

Onto the meat of the thread. I am playing a dual dagger rogue and am looking to name my end-game daggers daggers. Just wondering how people go about naming their weapons and what good names for a human noble assassin.

I named one dagger 'the Jason Voorhees Special' from the 'Friday the 13th' movies, and the other one 'Here's Johnny'. That line is from Jack Nicholson in the movie 'The Shining'.

I named one of my daggers "Dagon's Malice" after Mehrunes Dagon from The Elder Scrolls games. And then put on a corrupting rune.

Vengeance and Hope were likely my only sanely named weapons and both were mage staffs.

McStabbity made me laugh, I also often just call the weapons something like Slappy or StabbyStabby because I'm so lazy and it's funny. 
My Inquisitors names are Cormac and Fergus and because I'm crafting so often these days I just call their stuff Cormi or Fergi, derp. 
And Solas stuff get's insulting names because everyone knows why. 
Not good at naming stuff.

I try to name my gear with names from the Chant of Light. Peacekeeper for my endgame armor, Unquencable Flame for a fire staff, stuff like that.

There was a thread back in August 2014 about weapon names - when the reveal was fresh.

 

I called dibs on "Knock Knock" - a Warhammer I have yet to craft due to not making my planned 2H Elf (I'll drink to all the hate I'll hear about 2H and Elven ladies going together).

 

Then, being a proud Dalish, I have also suggested to name a bow the "Recurve of the Woods"

My two favorite daggers are "The Bard's Letter Opener" and "Tool of the Game" - my canon Inky had some interest in the Bardic skills, but mostly because of stealth. She took up Tempestiness in the end.

 

There were some really good names in that thread. I'm proud of the ones I came up with.

 

As for other names, I try to come up with sensible names - "Inquisitive Seeker" - "Darkspawn Eliminator" - "Dragon-Slayer's Padded Mail" - "Chill Pill"...

I made an endgame armor named Hakkons End(made with ice dragon mats mostly)
And my bow was Life Taker(heal on kill and FT honeycomb)
I like to name my crafted gear based on what stats it has, what FT mat it has, and/or RP story tie in like my Hakkons End armor

I steal borrow names from literature and mythology.

 

Example:  Carnwennan was King Arthur's dagger.  Naelging (nail) was Beowulf's long-bladed dagger.  Perhaps Needle (Game of Thrones) or Sting (Hobbit/Lord of the Rings) would be good for daggers too.

This is one of the hardest things to role play with in the game because it could say a lot about the Inquisitor in question.  For my Female Trevelyan naming her bows 'Dumat's Wrath' and 'Dumat's Bane' is probably pretty obvious what she was going for.

These are all pretty good. Giving me some ideas, such as adding more to her backstory. What do you all think about naming her daggers after people from her past (such as older siblings who had died or something)?

Almost all my crafted weapons are named after me with slight variations.

And many werewolves have been slain by the longbow "Fetch"​

idk. For Sera it's easy, I always name her end bow "Punched by Sera™"

Well, my Sera had two crafted bows - Curvy and Spiky.

As for the dagger pairs, my canon for the top-tier is Pepper & Mint.

Also, had crafted a Grey Wall shield once, feel free to guess who was wearing it.

I usually go with Elusive Minx and Scarlet Dawn as my most powerful ones and have others like Blink, Shadow Dancer and Mitis Aura for others.
