I base the weapon names on the damage type or rune I plan to use. If it's a staff, it gets called Torch, Sparky, or Icicle to make it easier to find in my inventory. If I stick a special rune on it, it's "demon fire" or "demon ice" or whatever. If it's something other than a staff, it takes the name of whatever rune I use. If I put a corrupting rune on it, it becomes "Manslaughter."

It isn't original or clever, but it does make it easy to find a particular weapon in my inventory or storage chest.

First good name that comes to mind, but... yes.

I haven't ever spent more than a minute thinking about a good name.

I named one dagger 'the Jason Voorhees Special' from the 'Friday the 13th' movies, and the other one 'Here's Johnny'. That line is from Jack Nicholson in the movie 'The Shining'.

The line in "The Shining" is actually a reference to "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson".

I know. Jack Nicholson says it better than Ed McMahon

Me too :/ The only time I ever named something was the most boring name ever.. and it was only because I had 2 of the same gear  with different recolors of the same armor, so I just called one "pink keeper robe" and the other "orange keeper robe" (one for Lavellan and one for Solas) XD just to differentiate really, wasn't even needed tbh.

I name mine based on their attributes and uses. I crafted a staff to combat the Red Lyrium Dragon called "End of the Storm", that had electricity and dragon slaying attributes. I also made a sword for Blackwall for the same purpose called "End of the Age". Then there are some with practical names. I crafted a Nevarran axe called "Nevarran Demon Slayer" for Cassandra because she is both Nevarran and practical.

I named one sword for my character's final loadout, otherwise it never seemed worth the trouble.

I think I named my Inquisitor's final robe "Inquisitor's New Testament".

I tend to name the weapons with somewhat overly appropriate and/or dramatic names, I must confess, sometimes with reference to companions or the main story. Sera's main bow was Noble Hunter (and then Noble Hunter II and III and IV), Vivienne's staves were Grace, Elegance and then Holiness, and Blackwall's maces became Honor then Redemption

My main character's weapons are usually commisionned after a main mission by force of habit, and thus named appropriately. As such I has various names like a staff dubbed Bane of the False God and a sword named Victory in the Arbor. My Qunari PC was a no-nonsense type and simply named her axes Slicer, Smasher and Hewer because it's what they did.
