I found a render of an artist in his blog, as an idea of what we can see. I wonder if you might have some reference to Commander Shepard or can at least see the statue as in the picture.

A lot of people think that while the story may take place long after the events of the Shepard Trilogy, the sojourn to Andromeda occurred before the trilogy ended and it takes a long time to get there thus being long after.
Hopefully you are right and Bioware meant that everything about it happens after the events of the Shepard Trilogy.
I'd rather the statue, should such a garish thing exist, not be of Shepard as a person, but Shepard as a symbol; a bloody icon.
That way people don't whine that the statue of The Shepard doesn't look like their Shepard.

I'd imagine that if they did make a Shepard statue it would be one that has them wearing the N7 Armor and N7 Helmet with the face mask so you can't see the actual face. Then the only thing needing swapping is male or female which isn't hard.
My Shepard would be holding a Carnifex.. and not the model of the Citadel. I'm pretty sure he blew it up with a Carnifex even.
Where would they keep it? The prow of the ark?

I'm not keen on the idea that relatively lowly ranked player protagonist becomes the only icon of heroism in an entire war. As far as I'm aware statues tend to get made after politicians, commanders or soldiers representative of the whole. If they have to do it maybe we could get some other statues of that mayor who refused to leave London or that Trident pilot who soloed two of those flying eyeball things to protect a civilian transport or someone I didn't just make up.
Even the krogan got a bigger statue than that.
No offense here but Shepard was a male. 
All kidding aside, ME:Yougottabekindingmeanothergalaxy must, and I do mean MUST, start before the clusterfrak that was the end of ME3. If it does not start before, then BW must canonize one of the ending and I don't see this happening. BW is trying desperately to distance itself from ME3's ending.
Hopefully, logically?, the game will start in the 2 years between ME1 and ME2. Plenty of time for Liara (who else can save the friggin day by getting into everything) to discover the galactic drive/wormhole/brainfart that allows a ship to do something no even touched upon in the game and almost totally disallowed due to the ME technology that (for some reason or another) is the only means of space flight.

Honestly, I'd rather it be a statue of the Normandy, rather than of Shepard. . .OOOOOH OR THE SPACE HAMPSTER.

Alternatively, you could have a character mention Sheppard like Revan in mentioned in KOTOR2, and you basically correct Atton the whole time.

AS for myself: No, no statue, no memorial. Not even a mention. I want to be able to pretend Shepard never existed.
Really tho, Anderson has a better chance of getting one then Shepard for a few reasons, even the Normandy it self has a higher chance. At the end of the day Shepard was just a grunt who had the bad luck of stepping into this bullshit.

No it wouldn't. It could use something like the Dragon Age Keep, which Bioware has said they are wanting to do something similar for Mass Effect.
