Please don't hate me for this.... but....Solas. Reasoning is a bit ranty.

While I don't believe he's evily evily evil, he willingly lets a magister take his orb with the knowledge that it would cause a huge explosion, therefore a large number of deaths. It would have been 'okay' if Cory had tried unlocking the orb elsewhere in the middle of nowhere, but as Solas actually heads to the Conclave to 'observe' the events', it suggests that he definitely knew where Corypheus would be and followed him as he planned on retrieving his orb then. Solas kept everything to himself and was guilty in the deaths of everyone at the Conclave in some way because of his actions. Oh and he gets you into a direct conflict with the Qunari... which is in some ways helpful, but wouldn't really have mattered if the Inquisition disbanded. As much anyway.

Also... it's worse if you romance him (yes im still crying over Trespasser). I mean his magic gets branded into you, he manipulates you into the responsibility of the Inquisitor as a means to an end to seal the Breach...and willingly while Lavellan pursues him. You could even argue that Skyhold was an ideal place for him to observe your actions.... Solas also reveals the truth about some of misperceptions of your Dalish heritage and frees you... all while knowing that his Anchor would eventually kill you, and he doesn't bother telling you that until it's almost too late and the Inquisitor is dying because of it! Two years later!

Also he condemned the entire race of elves for countless ages by creating the Veil due to his own selfish actions. I mean, just because he says that every alternative was worse, it doesn't necessarily mean that was the case. Saying that one absolutely had to do something can just be a means to justify one's own perceived truth while forcing it upon others.... and because of his pride the People suffered.

I'd say Solas , I know some people are going to throw rocks at me for this but ...the man is cold.

He joined you and the Inquisition to retrieve his orb , so he can destroy you , your companions and everything you're trying to save.

He can even romance the Inquisitor , knowing again he'll kill her and destroy everything she cherish in the future.

I can't get over his sad face over his broken orb while everyone was looking for survivors and cheering up about saving the world.

Or the "I am not a monster".

I picture him getting his orb back at Haven and doing his thing and everyone dying in raw chaos instead of going back to Skyhold and party like it's 1999 , and it's just awful .

I mean Anders blowing up a Chantry was terrible but this is so so much worse.

damn I didn't see your post!

I nominate Bhelen. Murdered his brothers, and caused the death of his father to ascend to the Throne, then is hailed for trying to do some good in spite of his misdeeds. Have not seen such a literary serpent since Lex Luthor killed Superman and then offered to cure Cancer in the comics.

I would nominate Solas. Corypheus at least wanted to rule the land and the people, Solas wants to kill all non-elves. His moping about it doesn't make the victims any less dead.

I was playing through Cass' quest last night and something the Lord Seeker said caught my attention. He said he saw the future and Thedas would have to be destroyed so a new, pure one could begin. Add to Sandal saying the magic will return, and it looks like Solas will succeed. It seems this is meant to happen. How everyone will survive is what I'm curious about.

In terms of harm inflicted on innocents, both achieved and intended, Solas.

In terms of personal nastiness, Howe and... whoever that Venatori who tricked the Grey Wardens.

"Most evil" depends on what exactly you consider particularly evil. Based on some results of social psychology, people would be considered most evil if they did all of the following (sorted in descending order of "evil", according to my personal estimation):

(1) Causing suffering, or refusing to mitigate suffering, for the lulz.

(2) Treating other people as objects only fit to serve yourself.

(3) Having no loyalty to any cause or group, just to yourself and your own self-gratification.

(4) Rejecting any moral and legal authority unless doing so benefits yourself.

(5) Casually destroying things others hold sacred.

I don't think there's any character in DA who does all of that. The most common type of evil is (2), exemplified by any slaver and/or the people who used people to grow red lyrium. Quentin would be characterized by (2) to (4), I think that's the closest anyone comes to "most evil" in the franchise, by quality, counting only NPCs. Some of our protagonists can be pretty evil, though. I'll have to check, but it's quite possible the Warden can do express everything but (3) if you put some effort into it.

Wow - thats a pretty high standard for evil. So if you are guilty of only 3 or 4 of the 5 are  you just evil-ish? Mean? Nasty?

I would probably say The Maker (if he exists) because; he creates Thedas, abandons it and then leaves a Darkspawn plague/blight to destroy it.

Otherwise, I would say Howe.

Because how dare the maker respect his creations free will by not interfering with the world unless asked?

It's a shame a certain Elven God didn't follow this example

I'm not saying the Maker was evil from the beginning but his reaction to events seem to be a little bit petulant.

For example;  he created the Fade and sees that it doesn't work out so abandons it,  he abandons Thedas until the whole world sings the Chant and for good measure he unleashes Darkspawn which in turn causes more misery and death. (I'm not a lore specialist so correct me if I'm wrong :))

I never knew you could kill that elf like that. I always just took the sword. My murderous city elf playthrough now feels grossly incomplete.

Thanks to The Keep, he does not live unless I want him to. In actual gameplay, he only lived once. And when encountering my Mages, him and the entire Assembly meet with Storm of the Century; my idea of reform....

I nominate the designers that make some of the hats in Thedas. Am guessing this is why masks are so popular in Orlais, as they can hide the embarrassment from wearing such outrageous headgear.

I think he plans to just save ancient elves. He doesn't plan on saving his lover or her people.

How about the tin foil armor? Superior Battlemage Armor is pretty ugly and looks like a cheap Halloween costume.

I agree. Free will is the only way to go. Which is 180 degrees shift from the Elven Gods "I have to control everything". Just look how well that helped the Elves.

I don't think they will. Iron Bull stated a__deep in demons more like it.

I hope they don't do a Mass Effect 3 option and everyone needs to share their body with a spirit. I'm NOT okay with that.

Have you heard of free will? It is the only way to go. Look at the stupid Elves vs the Humans. Without their all controlling Elven Gods they are useless. The Humans on the other hand get up and do something about it. They aren't waiting around for someone to save them.

Uncertain of the armor, but have yet to resort to taking one specialty (ie; Arcane Warrior) to avoid wearing it as was done with hats in DAO. In DAI, certain headwear is much improved, but still resort to Hide Helms option as my default setting.
