DAI is very good but I wouldn't even call it the best DA game. I think it is the second best DA game behind DAO. As far as best bioware games go, I would go with ME 2 being the best in relatively recent memory (can also make an argument for KOTOR but now we would be getting into ancient history)
Inquisition is Bioware's best game to date.

I wonder if people don't enjoy the side quest because they don't read the codex. I read them. Apparently some games require the player to read more than DA does like Pillars of Eternity.
Chateau d'Onterre quest was one of my favorites. Seems mommy and daddy were ashamed of their daughter's magic and tried to hide it. Sounds like the kid made friends with a demon.
"What exactly happened in the long-abandoned Chateau d'Onterre is a bit of a mystery. Perhaps exploring its darkest corners will uncover some truth—or treasures."
I saw these types of quest as mysteries.
Wait, so is the Chateau quest the dark version of Frozen?

It was 2014 GOTY and won various accolades from the gamin community, the bsn is the forums where this game gets panned. This is the turning point for Bioware and the rest of their games should look @ DAI and follow suit.
Which is why i think ME:A taking notes from Inquisition is a good thing. Just wanted to post this as a thanks to bioware for such an amazing game, easily their best and not it isnt up for debate.
Anyway should future bioware games takes ntoes from Inquisition? I mean why wouldnt they?
No it's not!
And i'm pretty sure Mass Effect 2 won far more awards.
Imo ME1, ME2, Origins, Awakening, KOTOR were all better than Inquisition. Which imo was pretty mediocre.

Changing weather made the world of the Witcher feel alive, it was so neat being in the middle of nowhere and then woooooshhhh darkness, rain, thunder, blowing trees. I could just hear the party commenting on those changes.
(Disgusted noise) Another storm!
(sigh) Well, lets hope this one does not reach over my head.
I like storms. Roaring. Blowing. Full of energy. The Energy of...life.
Witcher3 is one of the best games ever made. serioulsy , this game gets almost all aspects right.
Still, daI 's maps feel also livelyand the atmosphere is also fantastic.

GOTY awards are easy to win when theres no competition. Besides most people find it boring but if you enjoy why would you give a rats ass, i am enjoying AC syndicate more than i enjoyed mgs 5 but i can still recognize that its a worse game.
I agree. 2014 was one of the weakest years in terms of titles that could contend for GOTY.
2013 had the last of us, Bioshock infinite, and GTA V.
2015 has TW3, AC:S, MGS, and Fallout 4.
2016 will have Deus Ex MD, Dishonored 2, FF16, Dark Souls 3. Not as strong as 2015, but still a good lineup.
In comparison, 2014 had nothing. There was literally no challenger in 2014 for GOTY. But, on the other hand, EA made a smart move in releasing DAI in 2014.
Overall, DAI is decent, better than DA2, but below masterpieces like ME2.

God looking at 2016 and people call 2014 a weak year. Thank the Maker for Andromeda.
Funny you should mention AC:S in those titles considering 2014 also had one.

ME:A may very well be the best game in 2016. 2016 doesn't look as strong as 2015, as mentioned above. But even something like Deus Ex will be a stronger challenger to ME:A than anything that could have challenged DAI in 2014.
As for AC games, the one in 2014 wasn't any good. AC2 was good, then the following years were mostly mediocre.

Nice bait, but I like to discuss the games I play.
DA:I was a horrible experience for me and a step in the complete wrong direction. I got caught up in the hype and bought it which was a bad mistake of mine. Lots of padding, side quests that were MMO-tier bland, an open world that felt dead, a story that I feel was in shambles from the start, and I wasn't really a fan of the characters. People say Trespasser "fixed" the story, but a DLC shouldn't have to fix a broken part of the game and I haven't played it so I wouldn't know. I actually thought the game overall was worse than Dragon Age 2, something that really surprised me.

ok. 2013 was way weaker than 2014. gtaV .. i just cannot understand whats so good about this game, and it's world feels its in autopilot.
Best game in 2013 is last of us in my humble opinion but in subsequent playthroughs it's flaws become more apparent thatn in DaI
As for bioshock infinite, it was an okay game with a mindbending ending which was strong but until you get to the end the story is meh and confusing.
I find DaI better than 2013's offerings
As for deus ex check my name please. (deus ex fan). Human revolution was balls to the wall great!!!

AC Unity released in '14 was plagued by a number of bugs and optimization errors (along with Watch Dogs, released earlier that year) and the game is considered by many the weakest in the series (both by technical aspects and story-wise), so I believe this counts towards the disappointing game releases of 2014.
Divinity Original Sin came out the same year as Inquisiton, but I don't know if they even count in the same category, as Divinity is more of a classic RPG than Dragon Age ever was in the last four years. Needless to say, I enjoyed it more too.

I know but the point is it was considered a good game from a good franchise going into it to where many on the boards were hand wringing of 'how could EA release DA I next to such amazing compeition, it is setting it up for failure!!!111' Hindsight is 20/20.

i am happy for once that a bioware game got many awards and acclaim/.
Mass effect got too But its genre (scifi shooting) makes it automatic MORE apealing than dark fantasy with actual tactical cameras.
I am happy i played DaI (i LOVE it) and while i do find other games better (so far in this gen only witcher 3 is better imo) this is fine.
Bioware is not obliged everytime to overlapse their previous games.

Sure, if the comparison is between 2014 and 2016, then it necessarily follows that 2016 is based on speculation. 2016 could turn out to be a poor year, but based on current information, I think it looks better than 2014 (considering non-bioware games only).
However, as far as the AC series goes, I would be hesitant to label AC as a regular GOTY contender simply because quality and "impact" in that series is unsustainable due to its yearly releases. Actually, Ubisoft tends to make better AC games only after realization that the previous game (e.g., AC3, ACU) failed to live up to expectations.

I consider DAI Bioware's best game since they switched to voiced protagonists. The ME trilogy is marred by its unlikeable protagonist with canonical features I dislike, and that DAI is good in that regard counts more for me than its disappointingly low main plot density. DA2 was....DA2....reasonably good in roleplaying but everthing was so over-the-top that I had a hard time taking anything seriously, thanks to David "Awesome-Button" Silverman.
DAI hasn't caught up to the best games of the silent-protagonist era, but it's made significant progress in dialogue and roleplaying compared to both ME3 and DA2, and with DAI Bioware has acquired, at last, a somewhat mature storytelling voice, which none of their games ever had except perhaps BG2 (not TOB) and KotOR. We'll see how things go in future DA games.

Advance word on AC:S is very good. As for rest of 2016 all of those games look to be better than DAI not masterpieces maybe but certainly it looks to be a much better year than 2014.

Did not Shadow of Mordor release in 2014? Was it not considered a strong game especially with the "innovative" Nemesis system? Did not Divinity OS release in 2014?
What about the following:
Child of Light
Scared 3
Wasteland 2
Dark Souls 2
Alien Isolation
Hearthstone
Bayonetta 2
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Civilization: Beyond Earth
Far Cry 4
Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris
Wolfenstein: The New Order
Velocity 2X
Destiny
Watchdogs

I remember when everyone - including me! - thought that Inquisition had no chance at any of the 2014 awards because it was up against Watch Dogs, Dark Souls 2, Destiny, Far Cry 4, Shadow of Mordor and whichever Assassin's Creed it was that hit at the same time (the titles all blur together for me.)
For me, it isn't quite BioWare's best game ever - that title is held by Baldur's Gate 2 - but I've played almost* everything they ever put out and it's my second favourite.
* 'almost' does not cover Shattered Steel or that Sonic thing.

Because DAI was released 2014. Some of the games on your list are usually brought up as shining beacons of rpgism when DAI is bashed out or release year context. However, when it is time to prove that 2014 was a weak gaming year they are all weak-sauce dissapointments.

I think DAI is an excellent game! Definitely the best Dragon Age game so far, and on par with the ME Trilogy for me. I loved the story, characters, world, lore, combat.....everything pretty much.
My only two gripes with DAI (subjectively) are no Desire Demons (Imshael does not count) and lack of hair options. Other than that, this game is brilliant!

i suppose you are saying about mgsV.
I do not think so, daI world is
1)way more appealing to the eye
2)feels more alive
3)at least in crestwood ,hinterlands etc you actually change the scenery and some enemies don't just respawn
4)waterfalls, trees that move, better graphics (the overall quality is better)
5) lets compare 2 similar vistas in terms of theme: deserts
Afganistan and Forbidden oasis OR western approach.
One is empty and totally boring to the eye while the others are way more appealing.
Also the level design. the way your character can traverse in those levels.
As for Roach. LOL. Roach RUNING wild while at a cutscene.
I liked the heaviness in witcher's controlls, Roach and geralt had momentum, i actually did not use the alternate movement at all they introduced in the patches.
