How do you think this is crafted?:

If I use Dragon Bone, a rating 4 crafting material, the most I would get is 383 DPS. Even with Essence of Perfection, it would only add another 10%. And with Master Dragon-Slaying Rune, that would only sum up to 471 DPS. So how in Andraste's jugs is this possible?

well superb corruption rune adds the same damage as master dragon-slaying rune (+50) so...

by the way, that dagger was made from Blade of Red Birth schematic.

I can't make master dragon-slaying rune yet but if we were to have it we would only be able to bring the DPS of the weapon below to 471

Spoiler

I recreated it.

It's a Dagger of Red Birth slotted with Dragon Bone, Dragon Scales, Veil Quartz and a t3 leather in the utility that gives 2 dex and 1.75 cun. I used Harden Gurgut Skin. The rune is described in the item, but it's a master cleansing rune. Its masterwork is the mastercraft bonus of 10% stats.

No, he meant a Masterwork that boosts all stats of the crafted gear, like a Dragon's Tooth.

Yeap as papa says you boost your dagger stats by a lot. reach the 600+ dps mark even. depends on taste tho

well, i didn't use Dragon's Tooth. i used Essence of Perfection which gives the same stat i.e. +10% so I'm not getting how I only got 421 DPS only (even with rune it would only add up to 471--no where near 500)...which is why i was asking if your level, your value on your attributes affect the number on DPS you're seeing or not.

Its odd. make sure you are using tier 4 materials like Veil quarts and dragon materials like dragon bones and ice dragon bones. and a superb rune since its 50+ damage unlike the master run which gives 30+.

The +50 damage you get from a superb rune applies to the weapon damage, not necessarily the DPS. I have no idea how DPS is calculated, but intuitively, I'd say that small, light weapons with high attack speeds might gain more than 50 DPS from 50 damage. If you're hitting someone twice as often with the same base damage on each blow, you'll do more damage.

As an example, a crafted Wrath of Lovias staff made from dragon bone does 125 DPS without a rune. Plunk a superb corrupting rune on it and the DPS shoots up to 206. Go fig.

well it shouldn't matter what materials i put into the utility, offense, defense slots as long as i put tier 4 material in the damage slot, right?

well it shouldn't matter what materials i put into the utility, offense, defense slots as long as i put tier 4 material in the damage slot, right?

Counter-argument: why shouldn't Attack% increase DPS? I realize none of the builds above actually have Attack%, so that can't explain why the DPS is higher, but I don't see how a buff for Attack% would fail to increase DPS. It increases actual damage/second, that's for sure.

And if that's true, then Dex buffs should also increase DPS, since Dex on a rogue increase Attack%.

And if that's true, then Crit buffs, for chance or damage, should increase DPS, since crit bonuses increase average damage/second. And since Dex increases crit damage, that goes double for Dex.

And if that's true, Cun buffs should also increase DPS, since Cun increases crit chance.

But I admit I haven't actually tried crafting different combinations to see what really affects DPS, since DPS is a pretty worthless metric to begin with. Be excited about a base damage 191 dagger, not a 500+ DPS dagger.
