a friend told me after so many promotions you will unlock your highest teir armor for all of their respective classes example being assassin unlocks armor for archer hunter alchemist silents sister after X amount of promotions. if this is true how many promotions does it take before this happens?

Untrue. Most armours are unlocked from crafting. Dragon armours are rewards upon completing experienced warrior/mage/rogue challenges.

Basically yes. Your friend might have been thinking of the Drakescales when he said "best armour". There is some debate on that if you don't have lots of promotions, but they do have the highest armour ratings. And those you do get from the "Experienced (class)" challenges.

Correct, however, promotions do help.

Well it is 1,000,000 xp for each of the 3 challenges so it is kind of like 5.x promotions in each class.  That's how I counted it anyway when I got my 3 chests one by one.  I started counting how many more promotions I need in that class in order to get the chest.

But be aware that getting the drakescale armor for the agent does not unlock the agent.  Your agent has to be unlocked first (by other means) to wear the drakescale armor you got from the chest.

Actually, I wonder if that's bugged for some people, because getting these challenges did unlock those characters for me.  Before getting the Experienced Mage challenge, I didn't have the Necromancer or the Arcane Warrior, but they unlocked for me upon getting the Drakescale armors for them — it did *NOT* unlock the Virtuoso, however, but I've been told that's because there is no Drakescale armor for him.  Before getting the Experienced Warrior I was missing the Katari and the Templar, and I got those with the warrior chest.

When did you finish the mage and warrior challenges?   I did my warrior one first, and when I got the chest, all my warriors and SS were already unlocked anyway, so I didn't notice anything.  After that I did the rogue one, and all my rogues were unlocked except for alchemist.  She remains locked even though I have her drakescale.   I did get her armor from a store chest the same day later so that was that.    I did the mage one last and my necro remains locked after I finished the challenge.  She was only unlocked about 1 week later when I got her armor from a store chest again.

I think I did those challenges about a month ago.  Mabye they changed it since?
