I've been checking this class and I have the impression that it's quite a powerful class.

rage can make you either a destroyer will melee attacks/charge or greatly increase survivability.

However, my question is: is it easy to trigger Rage? I understand that you need to melee kill 3 enemies within 30 seconds to get 30 seconds of effect.

That being said, I would say that it makes more sense investing in melee damage rather than health/shield in order to allow to trigger Rage more often.

Does that make sense?

Btw, I start the Adept class today with the vanilla human. I intend to try the Shaman out too very soon.

Depends on teammates it'd suck if you have say for example like QME or an N7 fury blowing up all the mooks.

But overall I'd say melee is viable eitherway, you shouldn't have trouble triggering rage as long as you can get to those mooks before your teammates can because they're detrimental when trying to get rage, unless your teammates are friends and are willing to give you those easy kills to get rage.

I personally like a good balance of health and barriers and melee on a krogan shaman as far as a melee build goes, for example melee on rank 4 fitness, martial artist and health and barriers rank 6 is how I like to go. I haven't tried an all melee focused krogan shaman adept but you should experiment and see what works for you in the end.

You can reduce to 2 the number of melee kills required to trigger Rage with the rank 6a of his fitness tree. If you play mostly silver and gold then it's pretty easy to activate Rage, as there are plenty of humanoids targets that you can quickly kill with a krogan specced for melee. Since you will likely use a shotgun for this kind of build, don't forget to equip the omni-blade or, if you don't have it yet, the blade attachment.

Personally I like him as a tanky caster while throwing in the occasional melee for fun.
but I reserve my full melee krogan build for the krogan sentinel and warlord...

but that's like, my opinion man.

I read that the Warlord needs 2 kills in 45 seconds and it can be reduced to 1 with Rage Rank 6. Is that correct???

My answer is ....... YES!!! Mrahahahaha!!!

All my Krogans are full melee-specced, omniblade-wielding headcases, but the Shaman is probably the one least suited to the job, although Barrier / Melee combos can be astronomically good fun.  Reducing the number of required kills to two does help considerably, especially if one of your BSN teammates happens to be playing a sniper. Not mentioning names, as I'm as guilty as anyone of occasionally trolling Krogan friends.

Yeap. Just checked. 1 kill in 45 seconds! Awesome right? And with an omniblade equipped, and melee bonus in tech armour, his standard melee is incredibly powerful.
and power damages in passives adding to his already ridiculous melee power of his hammer, he is an extremely powerful melee character. Biotic hammer can do incredible damage, but tech hammer covers a large area(my fav)but both are great! You can't go wrong!

What.... I need that Warlord!!!

So a Melee/Barrier build could work? How does Barrier work? Do I need to wait someone to shoot it off or can I simple press the button to turn Barrier off, hence detonating it?

Barrier works by simply turning it on, and you can leave it on until you press the barrier button again to detonate. Essentially you can leave it on the entire game and never touch it. And enemies can't kill your barrier power btw unlike in ME2.

Yes but if I want to detonate, it only works if I do it manually? Enemies blasting my barrier off won't detonate?

Yes only u can detonate it manually by press the barrier power again to detonate it. Enemies will never be able to blast your barrier.

Many people already know this, but you can actually activate Rage with a single heavy melee with the Warlord even if you don't take the R6 evolution that decreases it to 1 kill.  It has to be a running heavy melee though (the running backhand), meaning you have to be running and hit the heavy melee button while you're running.

Back when I was still playing this game that class was criminally under used.

Its harder to trigger Rage on the Shaman than on some of the other Krogan (the Warlord and Vanguard in particular), and in general he's a slightly weaker melee kit than any of his Krogan brethren because Barrier doesn't give a melee damage boost (whereas Biotic Charge, Tech Armor, and Fortification all grant a melee boost to the other Krogan). But he's still a monster- incredibly survivable, and his biotic combos are the strongest in the game (be sure to take the "Detonate" evolution on both Warp and Shockwave). Personally, I go health/barriers on his Fitness tree and focus more on killing stuff with powers and weapons, with the occasional headbutt thrown in for good measure, instead of a completely melee-centric build/playstyle. If I want a pure melee Krogan, I'm going with the Vanguard, or one of the Sentinels (i.e. Warlord or vanilla Krogan Sentinel).

^ I just use his heavy melee for dmg reduction and something to do in between combo cooldowns. Only time I hit rage with him is from pimp slapping too many husks for sort changing me.

Yeah its pretty rare for me to actually trigger Rage with him, but then, you don't really need it anyways since he's a killing machine and a super-tank

Krogan Shaman works best (IMO) as a tanky adept, not a melee-er.

Krogan Warlord is pure fun with melee and hammertime. Stand on ramps when fighting sync kill capable units.

Exactly- that said, he is a Krogan, so some situational headbutts are still in order.

I played a couple of games with it. It took me a while to get use to his charge.

I ended up speccing it fully for survival and even so, his melee damage is decent. I was able to trigger a few rages.

But I'm more interested in playing the Warlod., However this might take a while. I don't have it -_-
