yay! no more grinding. thanks!

by the way, do those loot ever disappear (given that i do leave at least one item behind) since they're not in a chest i.e. will they be gone when i come back after switching to and from another map or when i restart the game

The green pouches that drop from fade rifts are persistent. I think the game considers those pouches to be chests. So as long as there is at least one item, they stay there. The fade rift NW of the starting point in the Hakkon DLC is also a good place to get an unlimited amount of veil quarts (tier 4 metal), and pure spirit essences. This rift also drops a high level axe that can be sold for 4k.

It works only on regular attacks, skills and spells doesn't get any noticeable bonus. I just recently did some tests.

I personally use hidden blades, guard on hit, heal on hit, walking fortress (for cass), and 10% chance of 5 sec of Horn of Valor.

I wonder about shield bash, does it make aoe damage or just to a single target?

I was pretty sure that the 30% damage worked for skills, but now I have to check.

Hidden blades is pretty good. However, its benefits are lessened because it cannot re-proc until the current proc animation has completed. This results in an effective proc rate that is less than 10%. Also, the screen shaking motion is quite annoying.  -_-

Shield bash is single target, I believe. It's benefit is being a great guard crusher.

The OP FT mats are, of course, my favorites:

  • Hidden Blades, any number, they are all good
  • 30% damage bonus if not being hit, for ranged attackers
  • 10% chance of Walking Fortress for X seconds
  • Heal 25% of damage over X seconds
  • Chance to cast Pull of the Abyss or Immolate
  • Chance to inflict Bees!  :)

That's all after Skyhold. Before Skyhold, I'm partial to the FT mats that reduce mana/stamina costs and give healing, since I tend to run under level on NM.

Before Skyhold, you can't use masterworks at all, I thought. Or are you using the "Masterworks in Haven" mod?

The only one that I have tried that seems to be of use for NPC Mages is for creating Guard. Health Regen, Walking Fortress, etc do not appear to be effective enough for the others in high levels. Recommendations?

Doh, right! No mod, just my bad memory. I meant shortly after getting to Skyhold, still running under leveled and without a lot of Tier 3 mats lying around.

I use guard on hit on my Rogues and Mages. I build my Warriors to have high guard anyway. Rogues have diddly squat for protection aside from armor, and mages can always use more protection.

Also the "Heal over time" materials.
