Do most of you really think Shepard will be in ME:A?
Mass Effect: Andromeda "can be good" even without the original trilogy's main character, director says.

Shepard will not be in Andromeda.
Shepard who?
I'm more concerned on the quality of storytelling or the absence thereof more than I am concerned on the quality of the multi-directional face-customizable protagonist of ambiguous origin or the absence thereof.

"So the captain of the Enterprise is now some frog named Jean Luc? What the actual ****?! And what the hell is a Worf? You can't have Star Trek without Kirk and Spock! The series has been ruined!!!"
People were doubting that a Mass Effect game could be good without the Normandy's least interesting character?
This exactly.
Why anyone would miss an avatar for player agency for its personality is beyond me, Shepard had hardly any inherent characterization that isn't coming from ingame decision the player made. Any new protagonist in ME:A is more or less exactly the same, just with a different name.
Given what a dim witted emotional brick Shepard was, and whom lacked even the most basic of military knowledge, the only direction to go from him is up with the Andromeda PC.
I don't care about Shepard. I'm less open minded about leaving the Milky Way itself.
And that's reasonable. It's a galaxy, for heaven's sake. That it even came to this is just weird. It was one of the more down to earth sci-fi settings, that paid homage to real world movements like NASA... and yet it's more bombastic than Trek and Star Wars now. Even those couldn't depart from one galaxy (unless it was a funny Q episode or something). I thought the old setting was gonna be like.... humanity finally establishing a place in the galactic community. It was only like 30 years prior that they made first contact. And then... it's just all gone in an instant.

This. So much this.
Shepard won't be starring in ME:A, which everyone ought to know and/or accept at this point.

Getting away from Shepard is a good thing.
Hopefully they won't saddle us with a similarly limited protagonist.
we both know the odds of that are rather slim
I'd actually like to see how they would do a game with a predefined character, where all player decisions are limited by the characters personality. Less playing a character as much as you're playing the environment to influence how that character interacts with it.
I would really like to know something about the next protagonist, maybe they'll give us their name on N7 day.
