It's been a while since I frequently read these forums, but never actually wrote anything (mostly because there would already be the answer for my questions somewhere, or other fun stuff to read). So here I come with my first post !

I've recently found myself not using SMGs amps as much as the others (not including strength and headshot amps) and those keep accumulating as I'm running low on them precious shotgun and pistol amps..

With the exception of the occasionnal Tsol hurricane (or any power class with acolyte/hurricane), I rarely use them.

So what about you guys? What are your preferred weapon/class combinations when it comes to making the best use out of SMGs?
Fun/lore builds are also welcome as I play mostly gold and don't mind the change and the challenge :-)

Note : my collector SMG and BPP are only lvl 2 & 1 respectively, so those might not be so good (not that I really care tho..)

BPP on human engineer works not bad on Gold . Well HE can use any weapon, all he cares for are fire explosions.

Accuracy boosting classes are usually the only ones where using SMG's as primaries is worth it to me.  That means Destroyer, TSol, QMark, and standard Geth.

 

I accumulate a lot of SMG amps as well since there are really only two weapons in the class I care to use with any regularity.  On "power" classes, I would rather use a shotgun or pistol.

Do you have your High Velocity Barrel at rank 5 yet?  It's highly beneficial considering the low damage/high RPM nature of SMGs.

Another key mod is the SMG Recoil.

 

The 2 of them together make the Tempest a decent paintbrush for elemental ammo types (Inc, zap, ice).  Its weight keeps CD at 200% for casters, and its ammo capacity and clip size are solid as well.  The recoil mod will allow you to aim down the site.

 

I like to use Inc ammo Tempest with a Paladin or HE, and I like the zap ammo Tempest with a QFE or HSent (stringing tech bursts with bio explosions).

Yes, all my weapon mods are maxed, and so are my weapons except the UR (unmaxed manifest problems..)

I actually enjoyed the Locust with headhost focus on many kits in the past. ie. QFE is one kit that comes to mind I've used it many times in the past when I feel like playing a kit and weapon that doesn't scare weak player/manifest lobbies I may be in. Success rate of pugs not running away after a match is very high. Try it.

BPP on Vorcha Soldier, maxed Carnage for 6+6 FE spam (even with BPP at a low level you have close to 200% CD).

Good suggestions already, especially for me the BPP / Vorcha Soldier. And a scoped Locust can be very effective with a fair number of characters - Human Engineer or a Fat Turian, for example.

 

I'll add the GPSMG on the Geth Engineer - full Chain Overload + Incendiary Ammo with Extended Barrel and Armour Piercing Barrel. It's obviously not the most powerful weapon he can use but he's one of the very few characters who actually can make that gun perfectly adequate for Gold.

i like to take the locust as a spare weapon on my headshot quarian marksman, the eagle is just that bit better, but it's a great 2nd place for this character.

TSol with Tempest or Locust was pretty decent, need some hefty consumables if you're on platinum but gold it was a breeze. Just gotta hump RHA but then again everyone does. =/

I use the CSMG with a lot of different kits, specifically those with primers (in combination with Warp Ammo.)

Been playing a lot of bpp turian soldier lately, it's decent, just make sure to have an anti phantom backup and use at least one extra thing for stability. Even with low level bpp it's still decent and cool downs aren't bad.

Tempest and Geth SMG are both decent SMGs.  As others have suggested, the Hurricane is usable even at low levels (which the CSMG isn't so much).

I know she's an infiltrator and so you could use much heavier/more powerful weapons on her...but Huntress/CSMG/Warp Ammo just melts Collectors and Reapers.  All those armour damage bonuses stacking on top of each other...

 

Or you could go for the Hurricane, if you wanted to min-max it a bit more.  But either works really well.

I had a few games with the Hsent tempest with tech burst and biotic combo spam and it was a blast.

Many suggested hurricane with turians or GI, which I'm already quite familiar with and trying to avoid to find some new stuff to toy with :-)

No love for the hornet? I like using it on Tsentinel for a change (but then again, what doesn't work on him), or as a side weapon with the goon adept for lore reasons

Took the advice from this thread and tried out the Tsol-Tempest combo. Initially it was just to grind the challenge points but it ended up being a lot of fun.

 

It was also a lot more effective than I suspected if buffed with some armor negating mods/ammo. Most of my bleedouts in those games came from being over confident; I would just rush a spawn with that SMG on full-auto and forgetting that you sometimes have to move your character out of harms way to stay alive   .
