Trial rewards?

I finally picked up a first reward (enhanced cool down). Which is somewhat useful. As I said, mostly curiosity. And honestly, I like the scaling. I wish they'd just added that as part of the original package.

Mostly, I'm just curious as to what I might get. Extra toys are always nice.

Yeah, that's pretty much my take on it. I like Even Ground because I like level-scaled opponents and I'd play with it on even if there was no reward at all. I'm not particularly interested in the loot, but it is fun to open the box and see what I get. I don't usually reload unless it's something truly useless, like a FT material that gives +10 damage out/+100 damage in or something. Some people probably work that into a viable build, but I don't have any patience with it. Unless they implement a system that lets us change equipment halfway through a fight, I'm not going to use anything that increases my damage intake by an order of magnitude or so.

I've found that, aside from a handful of accessories, most of the trial rewards are mediocre. I'd play with most of the trials on simply to increase the challenge, if it wasn't for the way that "Walk Softly" affected spellbinder enemies: barriers with values at somewhere around ten times their base health that constantly regenerate, replenish to full when they teleport (which means no melee characters can get close to them) and can outpace two mages spamming dispel.
Besides that ugly little wrinkle, I find the trials fairly interesting.

That was a pain in the butt when I was trying to get through the barriers in the Hinterlands. They regenerated, and where I'd usually blast through easily, I had to work and work. And this was using the opposing element. Ugh!

Haha the first time I played with that trial on, those spellbinders (specifically in the Hissing waste) were a big wtf moment for me, since my party had no dispel. After that, I have dispel on all mages now, and I've switched from +willpower to +magic on their gear.

Had to turn it off when encounter Gurd in the JoH DLC, as the accompanied Mages were so much harsher with Regenerating Barriers.

I think you also get one for each main story mission. At least, I have so far.
