I went to take out Howe and was captured (of course).  Now, however, my PC and the other team members that were with her are stuck in the guard disguises and can't take them off!  Nor can the regular armor be outfitted.  A mod-related issue?  Anything to do about it?

Multiple issues here...

What 'other team members' were with her?

Was the party in Guard uniforms throughout the quest to rescue Anora?  It has been a while, but I didn't think it was possible to get into Howe's dungeon while wearing the guard uniforms.  Of course, my GWs have the tendency to kill someone and blow their disguises before they get to Anora so not something that I've often tried.

probably a mod related issue

have to figure out what mod it is but... Did you get everything in your inventory back after you got out of the cell?  If the answer to that question is 'no', there is no point in discussing a possible work around.

In desperation, I uninstalled everything then reinstalled DAO.  It sucks because I was so far along.  I remember something in the dialog about getting out of the disguises  before entering the dungeon, but somehow bypassed it and went into the basement with disguises still on.  My bad on that one.  Thereafter, I couldn't get out of the bloody disguises.  Unfortunately, I had quite a number of mods installed so who knows if it was a combination of mods which produced a very negative synergy.

Aside from losing my progress, it stinks because I had a very pretty female warden PC and I've not been able to figure out which mod created her.  (Last time around, I added numerous head morph mods and numerous hair mods.)  My current elf female PC isn't nearly as pretty.  (For female elves, I want long hair but I also want the ears to show because that's ultimately what makes her "elfish."  Too many times, the hair mods don't work well with female heads and leave the character looking like she has hair growing out of her ears.  In the old setup, I succeeded in avoiding that but am not so lucky this time.)

Oh well...

This time around, I've added only some of the less complicated mods (and hopefully less likely to crash the game) and want to focus on getting my desired world end state so that I can advance into the other DA games.   (I did reinstall Dragon Age Redesigned because it makes the game look more HQ.)

I have not reached that part of the game yet. But can you not try going back to a previous save maybe before going into the basement.

Maybe i am a bit OCD but i always keep two backups of my save game files.
