Dunno about that. I found the whole game a hard slog. If anything, I felt like In Your Heart Shall Burn was the high point of the game and it just kind of meandered along after that.

Lol no the judgement! The game itself was amazing for me though. I loved how many side quests, especially in Orlais, connected to the main plot if you read the codex entries. I had fun taking out everyone working for whoever is helping the big baddie.

Yep!  I am really enjoying myself now, and think that I am sufficiently immersed to finish the game this time.  Well it only took me a year.

Though, if I could have one wish, it would be to have nice looking character.  No matter how many attempts I make at improving my characters looks, they always end looking like the arse end of a pig. ;)  You would think with all the professionals under Biowares employ, they could at least have made it possible to make a nice looking character.  Thank goodness for the Black emporium.

What ? Where can we turn on this option ? :P

You can customize trials when you start a new game, or turn them on/off in the middle of a game. They're in the menu under Trials. You need to be actually loaded into the game and on your character to change anything. Trials were added with the Trespasser DLC, so you must have that installed as well.

Active trials can be configured under "Options" in the Hero menu at any point during the game. They can also be activated with the "Custom" difficulty option during hero creation for a new game.

I need to look for this.  I have the dlc, but have not noticed trials in the menu.

I am now up to 'your heart shall burn'  and it's crazy.  :)

On what I know to date, I would rate the dragon age series thus.

DA: Origins (9.8).  Don't drag it down for it's graphics or combat, it was bloody good for it's time.

DA: 2 (7).  Only let down by it's copy/paste locations and restrictions to one city.

DA: I (2).  Far to much time spent creating pretty hillsides.

They are suppose to get better with every game are they not?

So long as you own it and have it installed, you can use them yes. The trials were a fantastic addition which I really hope Bioware implement from the get go with the next game.

i had the same TOUGH love for Da2. god i hated that game in my first playthrough. i hated it!
at some point i run out of games and i decided to run it again. I hated it again
I decided to give it ONE final chance with all the DLC , at that point i already HATED it but what gives?
that was it: I loved it!  i knew what to epxect, i knew which quests troubled me and i played the game on noghtmare with FF.
GOD i loved it! The DLCS were excellent additions too!!!!
needless to say i played a 4 time and i had a blast.

To this day i find Da2 much more replayable than DAO, i also happen to have played da2 4 times whereas DAO3 times.
i an easily replay da2 if you ask me, dao not so much, the combat is too slow and boring anymore for me.

who knows maybe DaI will become to you what da2 became for me. A great but flawed game which you love

Agreed, DA: Origins is showing it's age, that's why a revamp of Origins was requested by so many.  Some of us wanted Origins brought up to date, bigger, better, and more beautiful, but what did they give us?

I am playing DA:I right now, and am working very hard to like it well enough to finish, but in truth you shouldn't have to work to like a Bioware game.

If I squish my eyes together and think really hard, I can imagine that those 10 rams bollocks and 20 coconuts are really important to the game.  ;)

the game has lots of atmosphere, the audio is great , the visuals are great, get immersed into that also.  My 5.1 sings through DAI enviroments.

The game have been improved thanks to the modder, I don't think that revamping it will be a good idea :)

The graphics and mechanics maybe not as good as actual games, but the dark atmosphere was what made the game so enjoyable for me.

I really enjoyed DA2 and DA:I too, but they lake this darkness that was present in Origins, and also Awakening which is even better than Origins imo.

Oh yes, There are definitely those Bioware/Origins moments in Inquisition. Like a oasis in the desert.

2? How low does a game have to go for you to really give up on it for good?

Five times I have started, five times I have failed.  This is my sixth, and six is a lucky number.....or was it seven?  No matter I have started a new game with the intent to this time, venture fully to the game conclusion, but this time, I have armed myself with the knowledge of trespasser, initials D.L.C.

Will I make it this time? Only the maker shall decide.

Why don't I just give up, why this lingering hope that Bioware are still made up of human beings and not green backs whoring of wanted better times?

Do you have a guide for the game. You can use the guide to only do the quest you need. The main game has many optional because of the following:

1. Pick up agents

2. Get approval from companions.

3. Get more power points.

Instead of trying to do everything try to reach the benchmark of the main story segments at the lowest recommended level. The first playthrough is the hardest. The second you keep all schematic found in the first game

Okay I'm deep into the game now, gone much further than I have been before.  Forget the filling fetch quests and bad character generation, and Inquisition is one hell of a game.  If only they had cut the fetch quests down and given us a decent character generator with acceptable hair, and this would have been game-of-the-year for the fans as well as the critics.

You can cut the fetch quests down yourself, of course. Not sure what to do about the hair. I guess you could go with a Baldquisition --bald PC, Solas, IB, and Vivienne -- close enough, right?

The furthest I have ever been in the game is the defence of Haven.  I just get fed-up, bored, as I do in many mmo's. It helps none, that most of the new characters are flat or sick in the head.

Every other BW title had me glued to my chair.  I would even start over as soon as finished one.  I loved them to tiny bits.  But Inquisition doesn't seem to be able to hold me.

I feel that I must try to finish it at some point in my life, just in case by some miracle I can finally become immersed.  I have even bought the trespasser dlc as my carrot on a string.  :)

No game appeals to all people. DA:I was a critical success, and it won many gamer choice awards and it was a financial success. There are many games out there that fall into this category that I don't like, but I don't take it as a personal affront when I don't like a game. What is it with gamers that think every game out there must cater to their wants and desires? If you don't like a game don't buy it.

With youtube and other streaming services you can get a VERY good idea of how a game plays and what the content a player can expect. So who is to blame that DA:I wasn't the game you hoped for? Hell the embargo for DA:I was released over a WEEK before its released date so why didn't you make an INFORMED decision as to if you would like the game before you bought it?

Bioware shouldn't be expected to cure stupid.

Mainly because most of the critics were telling us that it was the second coming, paid off or not, it was misinformation.  The other reason was that many BW fans trusted BW to deliver.

Where have you been hiding?  You really need to keep up with events.

Besides, this is a story of me, a original hater of the game, throwing doubt to the wind and giving the game a chance to impress.  I started by needing to find a reason to keep me playing before boredom crept in.  I have now gone beyond that, and the game is providing it's own entertainment.

I now have had enough time in the game to make a verdict.  A year ago I hated this game with a passion.  Today I love the game.  Yes, it has it's faults, quite a few actually, but there is just enough Bioware magic in there to make it great.

Today is a happy day, I can go back to waiting, and looking forward to the next Bioware game, if it be Mass Effect or Dragon age, I will be there.

, but in the mean time I will be playing DA:I to death., plus investing in as much of the DLC that my piggie bank will allow.

Thank you Bioware, I am so glad I gave you one last chance.  :D

I have been playing it every spare hour.  The transformation from dislike to love was gradual, and at times took a step backwards, but I am finally in the loop.  :)

No, not gotten that far yet, but looking forward to it. It surprised me to.  I thought I might get to the stage were I could play without holding a gun to my head, but never were I looked forward to playing.

I think if the game had drawn the player in more from the beginning, as it did in Origins, the game would have been more appetizing to many players.

I think the opening is kind of a mess. Obviously this is revealed to be intentional so that Here Lies The Abyss can have the twist about what really happened, but I think it would have been more effective to have a short (30 mins) prologue detailing who you are and why you are at the Conclave, and then cut out right before Elder One attacks, show the explosion from the outside like the title screen does, and then focus back in where the game picks up in the Fade.

The Hinterlands should also have been half the size.
