A hot female elf, probably a mage.
What race do you intend to play in DA4?

Either dwarf or qunari. Dwarves are my favourite race, but I'd like to play a mage as my 'canon' protagonist at some point. If there is a dwarf romance available to dwarves, however, I'll probably play a dwarf again. (Warrior rather than rogue like my Inquisitor. See, I already have my class decided as well!)

Human, just like my Hero, Champion, and Inquisitor. Hopefully there will be a fourth class so I can have a warrior, rogue, mage, (new class) team of protags.

Elf all the way. Maybe human in another play-through. Always liked the pointy-eared folk since Origins, and DAI made them even better to play as.

Female Elf blood mage. If we can't be a blood mage, I may try a rogue for a change.

My Worldstate so far is comprised of an elven mage, hawkish mage and human rogue: if available I'll probably take a Qunari or Dwarven warrior next for balance's sake.

My 'canon' warden is a female Surana. My 'canon' Inquisitor is a female elf mage. I really love elves. So probably my first choice would be elf female, mage if that's an option. I don't mind playing as human if that's all the choice i get though, I really love my LadyHawke rogue. Trying to get into playing my Tal'vashoth in Inquisition, I managed to make a nice looking boy, but the proportions of playing someone so tall is kind of weird for me. Not too into dwarves, if that's an option, will be waaaaay down the line after I've played first as elf and human, but sure, eventually I'd play as one if I can make one attractive enough to stare at for 60-80 hours.

Whatever I pick first (for my canon import) will be a mage, 'cause Surana, Hawke and Lavellan were all mages. So that rules out dwarves for my first PT. If there's some really good dwarf lore stuff going on, I'd change my mind though.
I usually go for elves, but unless slave/ex-slave is an option, I'd probably prefer to try a high class Tevinter mage. It'd be an interesting counterpart to Hawke. Human mages in the past are Circle-based, so it'd be interesting to roleplay one who's always seen it as some wonderful birthright. A qunari mage would also be pretty interesting, considering Tevinter's attitude towards them, and the war. That would only work if your race got recognition though. Otherwise I might as well just go for human.

I'll probably make a human mage first. As that is my typical blank slate character I go in blind with in this games.
Then I'll create my "canon" character who will either be another human mage, or and elf mage depending on which direction the story goes. Probably male.

Male human mage unless city/slave elf is an option.

My 'canon' Warden is a male dalish rogue, my canon Hawke is a female human(duh) mage, and my canon Inquisitor was originally planned as a femQunari warrior but I went with a female elf warrior instead for the Solas romance.
So I want to do a male qunari or dwarf in the next game, leaning towards a qunari mage.
I like diversity among my protagonists.

Other than that probably a rogue either elven or qunar not sure yet. Depends on background.

If I can play a human Tevinter mage I'll absolutely play a human Tevinter mage
Most likely they'll make you be a Ferelden or Marcher again. You know....the generic types.

What if one of the races you get to pick from is a golem? Who would want to play as a golem?

Who would not want to play as a golem? That is the real question.
But I would definitely play as a golem, control rod or no.

I keep getting stuck on human. They're the most dynamic race, really, the others as they stand really don't have much of a future.
I wouldn't mind playing as a halfling tho. ![]()

I'm planning on doing a male dwarf ranged rogue for my first DA4 playthrough.
My Warden is a male dwarf sword/shield warrior.
My Hawke is a male human healer mage.
My Inquisitor is a male qunari two-handed warrior.
Since I've cycled through all of the races at this point (What do you mean that I've 'forgotten' one.....?
) and I've yet to do a rogue, ranged rogue dwarf feels like the right fit.

I really like playing as a Qunari in DAI, but for a DA4, maybe set in Tevinter (yes please!), I hope to play as an elf. If I play male, I hope they fix the arms, they look... weird in DAI.
Edit: Golem could be fun, here comes the tank! Pigeons beware!

All of them.
For your canon protagonist, I mean.
