Both are so inaccurate and have recoil but which is the best?
And what is a good build for challenge points?

Hornet (for example on the Phoenix ... so nice to kill the Dragoons (=evil twin) with the good twin)

Hornet-Destroyer build what I quite successfully use - http://kalence.drupa...63A54313!F9.AGO
For Shuriken challenge you need very passive team mates.

Don't know why Bioware has an affection for these odd hybrid weapons; pistol, SMG and AR all mashed up together, like the Vindicator. Oh, and just for fun add a scope and call it Incisor. All are just wasted credits in the RNG store.

If you like using Valkyrie or Argus with stability mods (or turians) headshot builds, it kinda feels the same imo, just a bit weaker and lighter so more "power" friendly.

Hornet, without a doubt.
Atleast it does decent damage with stability mods/consumables.

There is something I never understood, a burst fire weapon is supposed to ba accurate, right ? That's the whole point, agreed ?
So why in Irune's name did Bioware make all the burst fire weapons so inaccurate and with such a big recoil ?
And please don't give me the "working as intendedTM" answer

Both are trash weapons in their stock versions but at least the hornet can be made somewhat a-okay by stacking stabilizers or using it on a kit with marksman. I think I grinded the hornet challenge with a Tsol on a silver solo. Standard Tsol build (MM,PM, weapon damage passives), AP ammo, SMG amp, stabilizer armor mod and extended mag/extended barrel for the hornet. The shuriken on the other hand I doubt I have more than 1000 points with.
Don't get me wrong, the hornet is still not a good weapon, but at least its better than that turd shuriken.

Hornet, at least the damage is decent. But I dislike both.

There is NOTHING in ME3 MP that can mitigate the horrendous re-fire delay that plagues the ME3 version. This alone puts shuriken into a **** class of its own much lower that any other ME3 weapon.

A wild Pedro appears.shuriken's problem is not the low damage or the accuracy (lots of other weapons suffer from said issues and can be mitigated (with various degrees of success) via consumables and class skills). There is NOTHING in ME3 MP that can mitigate the horrendous re-fire delay that plagues the ME3 version. This alone puts shuriken into a **** class of its own much lower that any other ME3 weapon.

Hornet without question. Much like the Argus, the DPS isn't that bad, it's everything else (stability, bloom on non accuracy boosting kits). It isn't a terrible weapon, and is IMO what SMG's should be designed around (lightweight, weapons that are comparable in close range DPS to heavier AR's while losing out at range). Its only real problem is the existence of broken weapons like the Hurrdurricane in the same category rendering it redundant.
Shuriken is simply awful. Bad DPS both burst and sustained, horrible refire delay bad accuracy, bad bloom, and mediocre stability (given its damage level). Only redeeming quality is that it weighs absolutely nothing, and can even give negative mass on some gimmick builds.

Now *this* is something I didn't quite grasp fully - and a froggy looking fury is now prodding me constantly. Care to explain the mechanics?

That OP is like asking: do you prefer crap tasting milk, or milk tasting like crap?
The Hornet is so ridiculously bad, only slightly outshining the Shuriken

Hornet, obviously. Its problem is its stability, it actually does decent damage. Shuriken on the other hand is just 100% pure unadulterated garbage. Put the Hornet on the TSol and its pretty much a murder-machine.

Wait......you mean people actually have trouble succesfully using the hornet? Are you all stormtroopers or something? Just put a stability mod/recoil mod/whatever the hell mod SMG's have on it. Surely people aren't comparing it to the shuriken...right?

The Hornet is at least decent at tearing down boss armor without adding a ton to your cooldown. The recoil and inaccuracy don't really hurt you when you're trying to hit a target the size of a Brute or something. And it has decent range too (better than the Hurricane if hip-fired). Not very versatile, and pretty bad against mooks without some sort of added stability, but at least it's good for something.
The Shuriken can't even equip a melee mod, so it's totally useless.
