It is a 'weak' year since DAI won many awards.
Heh... and it probably would have been a 'strong' if TW3 had kept to its original release date?
It is a 'weak' year since DAI won many awards.
Have to say though looking at the list for the game of the year award I wouldn't exactly call this a strong year either.
Am not aware of any game that is perfect. And 'feels' aside, that is once again an opinion; not fact.
TW3 has had as many patches as DAI; released it with hard coded control keys, lesser graphics than posted, and other bugs. Many are now fixed, but launch could have gone smoother.
And for this Baron quest I have heard so much about, thus far it seems to be about searching about for red spots and allowing banter to play out the supposed mystery. Toss in a cut-scene of said Baron, move him from downstairs to upstairs, and simply follow the Journal as it cues the next step. Though I have not seen it completed yet, thus far it is not so special.
And I have seen enough of cut-scenes that have to be done for every shopping run. Seems TW3 did not learn anything we did from DAO. And I much prefer to have the multiple dialogue choices in DAI than the usual couple seen for other titles. If one wants to play mini-games, TW3 has a popular one. But the best thing I have seen about it is that it is not mandatory.
Compare away, but this will not alter the fact that DAI has already won what TW3 hopes to win next.
No, it would still have been weak especially in comparison to 2015 which has Halo, Fallout, and MGS5.Heh... and it probably would have been a 'strong' if TW3 had kept to its original release date?

Last year was actually pretty good but marred by many broken releases. That's why it's been crapped on by gamers. This year has been excellent, especially if you include platform ports ( Original Sin is killing it on console) and indies. It's the best year since 2011 imo.
Well the same can be said about the other side. That their opinion = fact. That 2014 was not a weak year. That 130+ GOTY Awards arent a fluke (as a result to being a weak year). That DAI is not a failure in the eyes of the consumers.
So it goes both ways.....

Its funny how you critic a game and yet have never played it....
At least I put 100+ hours into DAI before saying it was a game that could have been better.

And no, this is not Jazz's opinion but one that is shared by many people here, including many DAI supporters.
I say again, if DAI is all that popular and well recieved by the fans then why did it fail at winning any awards?
I wonder if DAI would have still gotten the DICE award had it released this year.....

Just another year, but one that allowed Bioware to garnish 130+ GOTY Awards including the industries top honor. It has nothing to do with my opinion; those are facts.
Arent those 130+ awards just opinions of those media that gave it the award? What makes their opinion more worthy? It would have to, as your a such a fan....
One opinion or many still are not facts.
As I understant, Titanfall and Watch Dogs were the biggest offenders, right. Maybe ACU as well.
Of my list the following came out inbtime for xmas rush:
Shadows of Mordor
Alien Isolation (the only game to come out ofthe sceduled for Oct 7)
Call of Duty
AC Unity
Grand Theft Auto
I don't know if I should put the xpac for WoW up here, because I avoided for other big games. However it's such a juggernaught moneywise...
Well if that is what you want to hold onto to make you sleep well at night you do that.
We will see how Bioware handles that when developing DA4. Do they say, "Hey we got 130+ awards so obviously we was doing something right! To keep the momentum we should make DA4 identical and all other future Bioware titles identical to DAI since it was all so great as we swept 2014."
Or they could listen to the feedback which paints a totally different picture that says despite being a 2014 winner, DA4 needs many changes in order to fullfill the feedback request of the community.
But I highly doubt that Bioware holds the ranting on these forums as constructive 'feedback request of the community'....
Bayonetta 2 came out in 2014 and was quite well-acclaimed.
Well what other major AAA game did EA release during that quarter? What else were they going to talk about? Of course it was going to be talked about, it was their major holiday title. How does that game manage to make enough money it's mention in the first several minutes of the Quarter investor call?
Logically, it should have never happened.
Complaints about DAI extend beyond BSN.....
Yes; am aware that you also like Metacritic. This rather makes my point for me. However, ranting and whining is not constructive criticism, and it appears that Bioware is more interested in the latter.
I hope DA4 comes out soon so people can stop arguing about whether the opinions of the people who gave the game 130+ awards are correct, or whether the opinions of the people who preferred The Witcher are correct. ![]()
And I wasnt talking about Metacritic either.....
Genuine question: what other places are people talking about DA:I?
I've lurked on the Witcher/PoE/Sword Coats Legends forums and seen nothing other than people who ask for romances to be told to go back to the BSN...
Are these other places game journalism forums...?

Well, by then, people will be praising DAI.I hope DA4 comes out soon so people can stop arguing about whether the opinions of the people who gave the game 130+ awards are correct, or whether the opinions of the people who preferred The Witcher are correct.
I'm not biased and I've played games for over 20 years, but I have played both TW3 and DAI and found both lacking and both having some things better than the other, but to be perfectly honest, I feel as if the votes were placed in favor out of either spite or people who prefer the very mature scenes in it and gore and darkness that seems to win awards for everything nowadays even on TV.
TW3 had amazing lore just as DAI, but I strongly feel that's not why it won, but I do agree that Family Matters was AMAZING!! And the twist with a separate quest that connected it and really shows you can't play TW3 like you play DAI because neither ending is happy makes it very well written!
