I don't let rewards get in the way of my opinions nor justification for them. But you seem to have that down.
 
Rewards are nothing more then a mans pissing contest and paper weights.


Being incorrect so many times is deserving of notice, but it is others that should receive the Awards. Like DAI 130+ times....

No need to look at a vid; dislike cities, so I appreciated the simplicity of the Orlesian marketplace.


Whether you dislike cities or not is not the point. The point is that it is clear that the "metro" locations in TW3 are more detailed than what we got in the DAI marketplace with people there standing there like mannequins, like props on a movie set. In TW3, there is more ambiance going on that gives you the illusion that more is going on in the city other than it being a place for you to go buy items and leave.

But I will excuse Bioware from this because it was held back by last gen consoles while TW3 was not.

Hopefully with MEA things will be on a much higher and detailed level than DAI.

No more mannequin NPCs, this isnt the PS1 and PS2 or SNES days....

Oh come on you know what I mean, dont be all literal. Point was that the NPCs in DAI were very static compared to those in TW3 which seemed to be more active.

Again though, I give DAI the benefit of the doubt cause Bioware had to make the game playable on the PS3 and Xbox 360 whereas CDPR just had to focus on the PC, X1 and PS4.

if by more active one means repeating the same lines every time one passes by, then TW3 certainly has the edge. Been watching the Bloody Baron's quest, and almost every guard has to inquire of Geralt's sobriety at every opportunity.

I do like that NPC's can be moved; dislike the cut-scenes that must be repeated for each interaction. Annoying; not immersive.

I guess Val Royeaux in DA:I is static, because the game was planned as MMORPG. There is the typical central place with all kinds of static merchants and a few side alleys, where the players in an Online game boast about their chars.

if by more active one means repeating the same lines every time one passes by, then TW3 certainly has the edge. Been watching the Bloody Baron's quest, and almost every guard has to inquire of Geralt's sobriety at every opportunity.

Example, you could follow a merchant from his house in the AM, see him goto his kiosk stand, then come back to his house to sleep at night. Or some random times I might see him at the tavern late night before going home. You dont see that in DAI as the NPCs are just....there.

Like Skyrim. But I have had little call or reason to follow but a few NPC's during gameplay. So, all that makes little difference esp when one simply sees them in the same locations anyway.

You're wasting your time.  The NPC could come over to your house, clean and cook you dinner and some people would complain that they only want them to be boring cardboard cutouts who stand in the same place day and night.

Except that they aren't boring NPC's. DAI NPC's are often rich with banter and dialogue, though I would prefer to be able to bump them out of the way.

TW3 NPC's are detailed spawns, but often are apparently filled with repetitive lines, unnecessary cut-scenes, etc. But they can be moved from the path, so there is that.

What are you counting as active? Like the worker ant behaviour? I don't really see the allure - people don't act that way.

I have came to that conclusion as well. No matter what, some people dislike TW3 so much that they just cannot bring themselves to give credit to one of its strengths.

As much as I hate DAI, I still recognize the good things it does like customization, great characters (minus the dull IQ and villain) and indepth lore. It is just that there are nore things I dislike about the game than I like.

Some people are just either extreme in their dislike of TW3 or they just are trying to not "give TW3 fans the satisfaction" of admitting to it's stronger points.

But you are right, TW3 NPCs could be the most realistic NPCs ever seen in any game and some people will still have something to say that makes it seems like it aint so.

It doesnt take an expert for someone to see that the city/town enviornments of TW3 are more detailed then that of DAI. But to admit to that is to admit that TW3 does better than DAI in an area and to some, they are just not willing to publically admit to that.

It does have its flaws but no doubt it is a game that has left its footprint on the gaming community and one that future open world RPGs may draw inspiration from.

That's no different from DAO, which was going to be a LAN based MP game. Ala NWN.

Not really, because, again, DA:O was going to be an MP game like NWN. Yet NWN is not a good SP game (despite having brilliant SP modules), and DA:O is a good SP game. So having an MP shell is not a justification, really.
