Companion banter interruptions

Here's something to consider for the future games in the series: don't allow companion banter to be interrupted by ambient dialogue or less important sounds or dialogue.

Just doing the Redcliffe mage meeting quests, walked out of the chantry and my toons started discussing the situation - until I accidentally wondered a little too close to an NPC that you could interact with, and she started talking to me, ending the companion dialogue.

This should never happen. When there's companion banter going on, all other dialogue/potentially interrupting sound triggers should be inactivated, with the exception of the player intentionally beginning a dialogue with someone.

It would be nice, even in such situations, if the game would record the moment in the banter they were interrupted, and after the interruption was over, whoever was speaking would say something like "anyway, as I was saying....." and backtrack maybe a little in the banter, continuing it.

You know, how it happens in real life, if your conversation with someone is interrupted by something.

Something funny that happens in my game, all the time, is that my companions will start bantering during major fights (like fighting demons from a fade rift). I hate missing any banter so I do my best to not die while listening to their banter. Dorian seems to be the one that does this the most but once he starts saying something, others will join in.

Anyway, I hate to miss any banter so your suggestion is good.

I find that most of the time when banter happens during a fight, it was triggered right before the fight started, and continued during the fight - I don't remember banter ever starting while the fight was going on. Might have done, but can't remember an instance of that.

It would certainly add to realism if banter was interrupted when fight started, but interrupted not just abruptly, but with the companion speaking saying something like "Enemies! I guess we'll pick this up later..." - and then, after the fight something like "As I was saying before we got so rudely interrupted....", and continue the banter where they left off.

Also, sometimes banter starts JUST as I'm triggering a discussion with an NPC - so simultaneously that I can't react fast enough and stop myself from starting the discussion.

So to prevent that, perhaps it would be good if once banter was triggered, there'd be a "buffer time" of maybe 1.5 seconds, during which the game ignored your attempts at starting a discussion with an NPC. That way you wouldn't inadvertently lose banter.

Remember in origins when banter just had trigger spots and it usually worked properly?

I used those spots all the time, with different party member combinations, so I could hear the banter.  :P

There's banter in DAI?  I rarely hear it so....

They should have done it like DAO, set points.  The way DAI does it is so bad.

Agh yes I hate it when that happens in games. That's the main reason I quicksave like crazy so I go back in case a dialogue is  interrupted.

I would be satisfied if the banter 10-15 min "countdown" didn´t start anew at each load, but "save" with a save game and continue after load.

It would be probably hard to do, maybe impossible, but it took me one and a half playthrough (more than 220 hours) when I realised, I am not experiencing any banter bug, that it is just my playing style (save - load - load - save - save - save - load... for a dozen different reasons)... and to play and simultaneously watch time to catch as much banter as possible is really annoying (yet I am still doing it, because I love banter...).
