Seems pretty dumb. Just give it back Isabela. Better yet, do it anonymously.

Was she hoping to sell it or something? She does know it was basically only of value to the qun right? And they were much more likely to kill her for it than buy it from her.

This is like when my friend avoided taking out books from a library because she forgot to return a book there 3 years ago. Gurl, just return the book. 10/10 analogy, Pulitzer pls.

Well, she had to use something for toilet paper, right?

How else would you clean up all the crap she puts on Hawke?

She was on a mission for Castillon, her objective was to steal the book and to give it to him. When she lost it, she was scared Castillon would kill her for her failure and started to search for it. When she found it, she run with it and went to Castillon to finish her mission (and if she is your friend/lover/rival, gave up of the idea and came back).

Wait I thought of a reason.

Isabela would think that as long as she has possession of the book, neither Castillion or the Qunari would come after her for risk of destroying or losing the book.

Of course she was wrong on both counts, but that's at least how I think Isabela would think about it.

Still dumb though. I think getting rid of the item both dangerous individuals want is a much safer way to handle the situation, but Isabela isn't really rational to begin with.

She only had it for a short time.. and when she did, she was ready to deal with Castilion.

As for why she had it: To pay him back. Pretty simple motivation imo.

And it's not only of value to the Qunari. Tevinter wanted it.. just to be demoralizing.

actionhero: you do know, that she hadn't the book in her posession most of the time, right? The book, which is considered extreemly valuable, was the payment, she had to give to Castillon ta make up to him, for 'loosing' the slaves, she was supposed to transport to their destiny. She lost the book during the storm, where she and the Qunari shipwrecked and tried to find it ever since. So, she did not have it in her possession and thus could not have given it back.
