using the avvar war maul and the chosen skill rings makes this viable on nightmare,

enjoy. (at least chilling tremor + choice and superb health belt + cooldown amulet)

guard is everyrthing,

Looks good

I'm using the same build with Rage of the Avvar switched for Lady's Wrath (Mountain Mage build)

Without other elements you risk being useless against enemies strong against cold though.

I don't understand where Avvar War Maul comes in.

1: 2handed warriors have little use for armor penetration

2: The avvar deals armor piercing elemental damage =/

I am never one to bash on others builds as long as you can make it work, but damn this is terrible. At least detonate the frozen targets with crushing leap. L2B

Depends on the amount of promotions/gear someone has as if they could use this build.I like electricity myself.

Well, this is an attempt of a build based on defense. Probably the OP doesn't have a lot of experience playing Nightmare.
The reason why this build would likely fail is the fact that there are enemies immune to Ice based damage. No matter how much guard you can build, it would go down like water while you find yourself unable to do any damage other than auto-attack against enemies while Despair Demons and Red Templar Knights. This build essentially is not much better than a Level 1 Avvar, which is also an Ice/auto-attack approach. A Level 1 Avvar can work on Nightmare given enough promotions, as would this build, but that is certainly sub-optimal.

Crushing leaping an unbarriered despair demon is immensely satisfying, hitting them with cold attacks is immensely frustrating and futile.

I love the concept though! I could try this on perilous and become an indestruble god of ice
