The HOF, Hawke, and the Inquisitor will be your permanent PCs & companions? The other characters will be relegated to cameos or guest companions.
Just curious, would you buy a DA game if...

I liked Hawke as a companion (maybe it because it was a more identifiable character), but I wouldn't like the others.

Not that i am against limited companions but them only being previous PCs, i do not see how that would work we already know their past etc.
Limited companions would allow them to devote more time to each though i would assume which could be good, just not those three

I would not, no.
The fact that a party composed entirely of two-hander warriors isn't exactly a viable set up is no small part of the reason why, but not the whole reason.

Sounds like it would be a mess and a directive handed down from a suit who's had one too many at the latest 'business' lunch.

Maybe. As long as there are othe companions then just the three.

No. If I want to see my Wardens, Hawkes or Inquisitors, I'll load respective games and play as them.

My ideal DA5 would be that dropping the Veil has completely unleashed the Blight. Both remaining archdemons have been woken up. Not only that, but all Archdemons killed by a Warden were not in fact destroyed. They, and the Warden who killed them, were trapped within the Blight itself. With the restoration of the Fade to Thedas, the Wardens were yanked out and thus the Archdemons are free once again.
Hawke has survived the Fade and the Hero Of Ferelden has managed to stop the calling. But now you have to stop the Blight once and for all. Killing the Archdemons no longer works, so you have to look for a real solution before the world is consumed. Your party members would be all four previous player characters, plus the four previous Wardens who killed an archdemon (Corinn, Garahel et al.)
Maybe a split narrative. The Wardens are one party and are doing what they do best and are fighting the Darkspawn in an attempt to save as much of the world as possible. The Heroes are trying to find an answer to what the Blight really is in order to stop it.

Honest answer: I would be willing to consider buying any game set in Thedas, even Nug Simulator 3000. But this sounds like a bad idea - I just don't see how the Warden and the Inquisitor, in particular, could work as companions. And who would we romance?

Considering my warden and Hawke are both dead, this sounds like a very lonely game for my Lavellan. ![]()

As for me, probably not since I recently remembered 50% - 90% of everyone's Wardens and Hawkes are dead.

honestly, i would buy it simply because it's DA and i love the series. however, i think it's a bad idea, especially considering that many wardens and hawkes may be dead and what their classes are, as others have already pointed out. in my particular case, i have a specific personality and "voice" for my warden already and nothing that bioware does can ever come close to it and still cater to everyone else's wardens at the same time. she wouldn't feel like my warden anymore. a codex entry or npcs mentioning her and possibly letting me know how she is is enough to make me happy. i'd love another hawke or inquisitor cameo, but codex entries for them are also enough for me.

I'll be the first and say that I would!
For shits and giggles. And because I'm actually quite curious how my Warden would react when not in my hands.
And I wouldn't consider it my personal canon anyway x'D

Maybe for giggles as one of the last DLC after DA5. If it was story relevant and done well.

Of course. But not the whole game. I would want all four protags from Origins, 2, Inquisition, and 4 to all join up into the same party toward the end of the game. Or, have it optional from the start of the game that you can select any protag you want as leader, and then three other characters to follow, which would include the other three protags but also allow you to choose from various other companions.

But if this happens people who says no will likely say:
No I wouldn't buy it, but I buy it anyway.
