Perfectly smooth on all 3 of my PCs, one of which is 13 years old. I suspect you're either on last gen console or a PC that doesn't even come close to min specs.

My xbox one gets a weird stutter every once and awhile. I keep wondering why.

It's not horrible but it happens. *shrug*

You're just mad that your game makes Josephine look like an alligator/tree hybrid.

Weird. I didn't get any stuttering on a rig that's way below min spec. Framerates dropped below 20 in crowd scenes, but it didn't stutter; it just ran slow.

What system specs are you running? It's a bit hard to diagnose a problem without knowing what hardware config is being used.

As for the game itself, it's runs fine on my (admittedly high end) rig.

I used to get a stutter in Haven going up the stairs by where Varric camps out, even with an i7 and a GTX 980.  Don't get that anymore, so I've assumed that whatever was wrong has been fixed but if the stuttering is occurring in the same place(s) it may be an engine issue, rather than an optimization one.  In that, your specs are fine, the engine itself is struggling.

Also, are any mods running?

I don't run any myself, so that may not have been 'the' answer, anyway.

If they stuttering isn't always happening at the same location then I don't really know what the issue could be.

The game is far better optimised for AMD than it is for Nvidia (or, at least, it was on launch - not sure about now), so if either of us were to be fine, I would think it would be you.

Only thing left is your cooling.  If any of your components are overheating (or underpowered, what PSU do you have?) then they will start throttling performance and in some cases crashing to desktop (in order to save your PC from turning into a lump of molten steel and plastic).

With the crashing, are you aware of the Effortless Lunge bug? If your sword and shield warrior is using that talent, it will cause a CtD.

Regarding the stuttering, is it happening in specific places, or is it just random? There are a few spots in the game that are known to cause frame drops (Crossroads, for instance).

I assume you've tried all the usual things; turned off other programs and overlays, tried Origin game repair, updated drivers, checked system temps/voltages, etc.

You can also try running Origin in offline mode, it's still a steaming pile of alpha test code that still causes random issues running in the background with unfettered net access.

Mine only stutters and crashes when it's overheated and I have an i7 and use AMD. That might be your issue.

Well, that can't be true. Didn't even have multicores back then, or memory that is performant enough to run this game, ...

But yeah, the game runs fantastically smoothly for me as well.

I have that in this specific place and in the last playthrough I started, it still there. There's another in the tavern in Skyhold.

But these stuttering didn't occur until specefic events in the game, for the Haven one, it's always after visiting Val Royeaux the first time.

Game runs fine for me...

Well, unless I'm playing in a Windows 7 virtual machine on my MacBook laptop, but I don't think I can really blame the game for that one...

That's very odd. Have you tried repairing it or doing a reinstall? It could be corrupted files. Otherwise, you could try EA tech support, though I wouldn't hold much hope from there.

Ultra, 60 frames in Skyhold and Redcliffe. Try maintenance every now and then.

Only time I get stutter or lag is if I leave Origin online (Like to sync the Golden Nug or something) and it gets into a wonky bit of that alpha code and, causesz my rig to freeze for a moment or, crashes the game. Otherwise smooth as silk on an I& 4790 and Dual Titans
