Today I got a message from my friend, asking me if I deleted him from my friends list on Origin.

I did not. I did not delete anyone.

My Account has been hacked!

My whole friends list is empty and my Security Question is suddenly in russian.

Thanks to Irthir I know now that it means:

В какую начальную школу вы ходили = Which elementary school did you go

I tried to put in the name of my elementary school, but it didn't work. :(

Whoever hacked my account keeps trying to go online with it, which I prevent in going online myself.

But that doesn't solve my problem.

I went to the EA Help Center, but the call center is only available from Monday till Saturday from 9am to 9pm and today is Sunday. :(

Be careful everyone, check your Security Questions and change your passwords. :(

Try their chat support, it should be open: https://help.ea.com/...hat/initialize/

Thanks. Just tried it and it keeps searching for a Game Advisor. Maybe no one is in the chat support at the moment.

You should click the "can't access your account" link on the Origin log in tab.It will send you to a page to enter your email address, then they email you a link to change your password... it happened to me a couple of months ago

I still can't change my Security Question, but I will contact the EA support about that tomorrow.

The password change is the most important thing. You should also make sure no purchases were made.If there were, then EA will refund them when you contact them Monday. They will reset your security question too.

Was googling around and people with same problem reported it even back in 2013. Hacked accounts, security question changed to russian, exactly as OP described.

I would advice to not have any credit card or paypal linked to the account, in case they would try to buy something.

btw, did you sent me FR, OP? It just landed on my account, but I don´t know if it´s from real you or some russian troll

Yes, I sent you a FR. I'm trying to bring back my FL by going through the chat rooms I was in.

yeah I read in the online news that thousands of ea accounts were up for grabs on some "dark net" site, also Vodafone talktalk psn and various others, it seems someone has figured out a way of getting that info without triggering a notification for the company concerned, or the companies are stonewalling the customer base hoping nothing much will come of it......

also my account had new Russian details on it (yay) fortunately it seems I got to it before they could delete all my friends list again so at least that's something although i'll need support to fix the problem again ... this likely wont be the last time either, EA's servers have been attack multiple times in the last few years, XBL was offline a few times earlier in the year and now it seems its ea's turn again .....

hopefully they don't use the same default admin account on their webmaster software that talk talk did/does (user name tim, pass tim....)

I'll say the same thing I said to Gilli, activate 2 step verification in everything, without it it's way easier for you to get hacked.

yeah i'm waiting for EA support to ring me so they can reset my account and let me set it up/

stupid thing is I have authenticator app on my phone for a bunch of other accounts just didn't notice EA were linked into it, having had the account for so long I almost never use their website unless there is some problem ><

I suspect they are having a lot of people to ring up this morning after so many got the same problem this weekend, the answer HQ was littered with people posting about problems for different games since Saturday night .....

How do you buy,if don't have something linked?

I meant, not letting Origin to remember your payment info for future. You can still buy, you just have to fill all payment information everytime you do.

Ah so.

I get it for cards, but I thought Paypal is somewhat safe.I mean,EA doesn't have your PP credentials.

I had yesterday a nasty discussion with my wife about on line purchasing,so I don't like threads like this.

so long as you don't click the "stay logged in box" on the paypal popup screen.... which it used to do by default on most websites though thankfully not so anymore

So, because of this, I went on to my origin account just to check things out (cuz I'm a console peasant dontcha know).  Luckily for me, I don't have an origin friends, or any payment information stored on my account, so the only thing that they bothered to change was the location (to russia of course) but left the language in English.  Time to change that password, so they can get, um, nothing, but whatever :D

Might just be easier to learn russian than to deal with Microsoft.
