What is the difference between some guy running at a blood mage with a sword and some tied up slave when it comes to using them as a blood magic battery?

Well the slave is stationary.  You can take as much time as you need and don't need to to worry about him moving to another place.

What would demons know of a form of magic that has nothing to do with them or their world?

Dude...you don't get to do that.  We know how characters learn blood magic.  We know how you learn blood magic as a mage warden at Redcliffe and we know how Merrill learns blood magic.  Blood magic DOES have something to do with demons.   Also can you cast blood sacrifice on Justice even though he's walking around in a bloodless corpse?   Sometimes it's just a coding issue.

Also, there's a spell in Dragon Age 2 that actually lets you drain health from enemies as a blood mage. It's called Grave Robber and it's the second part of the spell.

There's also an enemy in the game that's a blood mage member of the dockside Red Water Raiders gang. An elf by the name of Leech who specializes in draining the blood of his foes.

Take your time? So offensive spells are incredibly difficult and time consuming all of a sudden? You're a funny guy. I laughed.

Blood magic can be learned from anyone with the necessary information. Mages can learn it from each other or from a book if anyone took the time to write it down. And they have. There's a book on it in the Fereldan Circle. It can also be learned from some demons. Choose wisely though. Those guys can be pretty tricky lol.

Oh yeah.

The origins of blood magic are a mystery. I have a theory though. Hear me out:

The ancient immortal elves were the first ones to discover that life force can be used instead of Fade energy. Spirits witnessed its use. Spirits are immortal and as time passed many of them have retained this knowledge of blood magic and are more than willing to share it with you. For the right price.

Yes it can.  But apparently it was first learned by demons and you can still find a lot of demons who know it.  Which is strange considering they don't have blood and neither do the human souls they meet in the fade.  And no, "offensive spells" aren't difficult.  But apparently converting people into magic is a bit more difficult.

It makes no sense for blood magic to be originally learned from demons. All they do is mimic the material world. All the knowledge they possess comes from the material world. If they know anything about blood magic it's because they got that information just like they get any of their information. By watching the material world.

Nothing else makes sense.

And where do you keep getting this idea that a blood mage has a hard time draining blood out of somebody? It's their bread and butter ffs!

Almost forgot

I don't recall if Blood Sacrifice works on Justice. It shouldn't. Unless it somehow draws on his Fade energy. He is a spirit after all.
