Currently playing through on a NG+ with infiltrator. Enjoyed sniping, but then wanted to try a shotgun/melee build, so I respecced. I've just finished Tuchanka, and now I've got the hang of the close quarters infiltrator insanity seems pretty easy now. Basically just flanking them using cloak then using shotgun/powers/melee/squad to finish.

Anyone else find insanity not that insane??? I'm guessing part of it is that I'm playing NG+, but it still seems too easy for the hardest mode.

Its easy.

I did a playthrough using a level one pistol with no powers for the whole game. I also had the squadmates use a level one weapon and no powers. To date, its the hardest playthrough I've experienced for ME3.

You guys need to think outside the box.  What I do:  make sure my toddler is crawling over my face, have my older children ask me nonsensical questions at random intervals concerning their homework, chores, etc.  Be sure to have your family walk in front of you during combat, and occasionally pause, standing still, with the "did I leave the stove on?" look on their face.

Insanity in ME3 isn't as hard as insanity in ME1 and ME2.  imo, it doesn't even compare.  Insanity is only a bit of a challenge for me, even without the DLC weapons.

It's sad how easy ME3 insanity is compared to ME1 and ME2 insanity.

I don't recall having any problems playing ME1 on insanity mode. I found it about as easy as ME3

Starting a new character (level 1) on insanity in ME1 is probably the most punishing, certainly build wise, of the three games.

As far as ME3 goes, the first thing to do would be to start at level 1 instead of 30 or NG+.  My favorite way to do this is to import, drop a save as soon as you can control Shepard, and then exit and use gibbed to set level to 1 and XP to 0.

I realise I could challenge myself by setting restrictions on the playthrough but I'm a bit dissapointed the difficultly isn't scaled to a reasonable level based on the equipment the player has...

Would you prefer inflated health/armor bars? That's what "hard" normally becomes.

I think shield gate helps with that. A more aggressive AI would be a lot of fun to play against because then you can't just neccesarily take the game at your own pace by sitting back and picking off enemies. Ultimately though, even with a very hard mode, someone will find it easy so I guess I shouldn't complain about insanity :P

Some powers feel like they really got buffed in this game.  Engineer can just Chain Overload constantly while enemies are getting zapped by the drone, Infiltrator with shield drain + bonus power is unstoppable.  The only class that took a long time to really pick up in power was Soldier, which is not so surprising since in contrast, a number of weapons feel like they got nerfed from ME2.

Enemy damage on Insanity in ME2 is absurd, enemies in ME1 just rushed you and overwhelmed you instantly or killed you in one sniper shot.  ME3 tried to tone it down from ME2 and went too far.  Kind of funny that these 4 random chumps in multiplayer regularly face far more overwhelming odds than Shepard ever has.

So exactly do you beat Marauder Shields at the end? I've done this several times nhow and I'm getting nowhere. I can land about 3 shots before he takes me out. How is this supposed to work?

EDIT: Nevermind. I just went all the way to the right, and Shields just disappeared into the beam. Everything slowed down and I just kept walking, finally I made it. Close one.

For future reference if your trick doesn't continue to work, headshots essentially chain stagger him to the point where he can't even fire. Don't focus on max fire rate, let the reticle fully settle back to maximum accuracy between each shot.

It looks like not killing Marauder messes up getting the achievement for beating Insanity. Cuz...I don't have it.

Cloak iis a bit easy mode, try a melee adept instead.

In my book, ME2 NG+ is the hardest fight for the first missions, archangel mainly.

Archangel's most difficult part is in the basement imho. But nothing can compare to the Horizon.

well i never had real trouble on horizon, (except once where iirc, i had a partial save during the last fight where there was not enough ammo anymore on the scene :D)

cause by the time u get to horizon you have all the bonuses back. Which is not the case in NG+ with maxxed foes right from the start.

So I found out that you have to pick RGB at the end to get the Insanity achievement. I sure wish I knew that before. I don't have the strength to do that again. Goddamn you BioWare.

In ME1, Insanity is merely add faster regen rate and shitty bullets (heatsink actually made it worse, I never knew hate until I have to wait every three or five seconds to use my sniper).

In ME2, mobs keep respawning with stronger shield and barrier. Armored husks chasing you. That I like. However, since you're fighting mostly tech vulnerable mobs, I hardly use biotic squadmates (Jacob, Jack, Samara, Thane and Miranda at least). Being forced to neglect half of my companions is the reason why I don't do another ME2 Insanity.

In ME3, I think the smoother gameplay and response made the game easier. It wouldn't be that easy had ME3 retain shitty bullets (ME1) and shitty cover mechanics (ME2) which nearly broke my spacebar and clunky movements (both ME1 and ME2).

However, if you find its easy for you, just handicap yourself. There's Spectre mod somewhere.

You're probably all experienced players that have been on ME for years.

The more you do something the better you get at it. Surprise surprise.
